    3. Lois Z, I used this URL http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/ I found the McComas obit by typing McComas in the search engine, however, scroll on down the home page and see what all is offered on this site, Obituary Notices being one of them. To have information add to the Web Page I would suggest you contact the Administrator, Carol Hepburn. Click on her name in the "Welcome paragraph" and an email addressed to her will open. Hope that helps and I hope a lot of folks send new information to be included on the Garrett County site. Pat-T

    3. Yes - the link at the bottom of the page is not working for me, either - but here is how to get to a higher degree of the directory. It's just a matter of learning how to navigate around your Browser. In your Internet Browser, look at the Address window. Place your Mouse Cursor at then end of the Address. Delete by backspacing the last part of the URL to the next level (/). example: What you started with was this: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/obits/m.html What you want is this: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/obits/ Then hit Enter - it will take you to a page that says: Index of /~mdgarret/obits Parent Directory 23-May-2003 10:44 - b.html 04-May-2003 20:54 38k c.html 04-May-2003 20:54 8k j.html 04-May-2003 20:54 16k k.html 04-May-2003 20:54 15k l.html 04-May-2003 20:54 19k m.html 04-May-2003 20:54 43k n.html 04-May-2003 20:54 10k o.html 04-May-2003 20:54 7k obits.html 04-May-2003 20:54 1k p.html 04-May-2003 20:55 23k r.html 04-May-2003 20:55 32k s.html 04-May-2003 20:55 62k t.html 04-May-2003 20:55 19k w.html 04-May-2003 20:55 2k You can click on any of the links and it will take you to that page. Clicking on Parent Directory will take you to the Garrett county Home Page - which incidentally is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/ -------Original Message------- From: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 02:51:46 To: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Dr. McComas In a message dated 8/25/03 7:40:30 PM, Pat125@erols.com writes: << http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/obits/m.html >> I tried to find obits for other surnames not beginning with "M" but get "Not Found" message. You work so hard to try to help us. Thank goodness 'cause I just don't have the time or expertise. Hedrick has to be from the Carl Hedrick line somewhere. Can't get the darn dates to come together, but some of the other facts match up pretty well don't ya think. I accepted him as one of the family anyway. :-) Lois Hetrick-Hedrick Stewart ;o)

The first official census in this country was taken in 1790. The Cobin (or Carl) Hetriech family arrived in America Aug. 27, 1733. I believe the petitioner mentioned in this site, William (Wilhelm) Hedrick, to be Carl's grandson named after Johannn Wilhelm Hedderich-Hetrick (Carl's second oldest son, b. 1717). My information says that John Wilhelm probably settled in Connecticut in 1750 or 1751--a great part of Pennsylvania belonged to Connecticut at that time. Wilhelm had 13 children, 11 boys and 2 girls. The oldest child, Adam, was b. 1751. If the William Hedrick was 89 at the time of the request (in 1833) he would have been born in or abt 1744. Johann John Onst (Just?) Hetreich was the oldest son b. 1713. Jacob D. Hetrick, gg-grandson of John Wilhelm Hedderich-Hetrick (through John Wilhelm's son Jacob), said ". . . he had been told by his father that the whole family had served in the Revolutionary War."
