Being a widow at 24 in the mid-late 1800's is not unusual. A simple infection from an injury or a fever could be a killer back then. -----Original Message----- From: Samuel J. Does anyone know a website that shows the districts of Allegany Co. (now Garrett Co) Maryland in 1850?
If it's on-line I don't have the url. Maybe someone will answer. Meantime this site has a list of books with tax lists for different areas. http://www.motherbedford.com/GenBook93.htm =;o) Carolyn MJDUGAN wrote: > THANKS FOR THE TAX RECORD, BUT I FORGOT TO SAY I WANTED FOR ELKLICK TOWNSHIP, SUMMERSET CO.PENN. Sam, I think I am on to "Ople" - you'll see in another post on MDALLEGA-L. Did you see the conversation about John W McCrobie and his father Elisha Dewitt McCrobie? I know you have some thoughts about his wives. I decided last night that there is no wife named Cerria for Elisha, it is a mis-reading of her name on a census. When looked at carefully it is Cenith, which sure seems like Azenath to me. Look at the 1870 census for Elisha D McRobie. I wonder who ever came up with "Cerria" in the first place - it is clearly "th" at the end of the name. Whoever it was, it isnow all over the Interenet files wrong. Write back after looking at it and tell me what you think. -------Original Message------- From: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Date: Saturday, September 27, 2003 08:19:25 To: MDGARRET-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MDGARRET] Re: [MDALLEGA] McCrobie - Hooppol - Upole?
