Doret. You brought back fond memories for me when you mentioned the Twin Churches! I remember family reunions there with the Sisler's, Casteel's and others. Does anyone have a photograph of the Churches? I am searching for any information about the family of Beulah Metz of Grantsville who married George McGhee. They had a daughter Juanita Kay McGhee who married Terry Lee Saville. Terry died in 2000 and is buried in LaVale, MD. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who is researching this surname in the Grantsville area. Many thanks. Julian H. Thanks to all the help trying to find the Deakins Survey map. Had no problem with the whilbr.org site after taking off the end part. Doret
Listers - According to the DAR Graves book, the cemetery where Charles and Mary Magdelene Broadwater are buried is on Savage River road. Anyone know where on Savage River road? Planning an expedition west and would like to see if any stones have survived since the survey was done in the early 1970's. Thanks much. Doret Jenkins
Doret, That cemetery is near the Broadwater chapel. There is a road that turns off and is more or less a driveway for someone's trailer. It is marked Broadwater cemetery Rd. It goes up a very steep ridge and it might be washed out. Plan on walking up the ridge or taking an SUV with 4 wheel drive up. I didn't go up there because it looked like you are going through someone's yard. Just so you know what to expect. Todd
Folks, Got a call from my son, SGT. John A. Durst, who is stationed at FT. Stewart, GA. Seems his wife, who works at the base had a brief encounter with another Durst, Jeremy (?) who is also stationed at the base. She was not able to get any more information, and so John called me. So for all of the Durst relations out there, does anyone have any information on this young man? John will keep looking, but thought I might be able to find out something. Thanks, Bill Durst PS. our line is Bill, John Wm, Floyd H., Wm H., Jacob, John Lightfoot, Casper (II) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Does anyone have any information on the Boore family? My father was Harry F. Boore from Lonaconing, MD. I'm trying to research the entire family but specifically right now Tilden Reynolds Boore and Bertha Victoria Perrin. Appreciate any assistance. Ellen Sears
Copy of a hand written letter found at the Garrett County Historical Society - Oct. 2006 (Transcribed by Pat (Friend) Thompson (notes inserted by me are followed by my initials. p.a.t.) GCHS The Bunnell Friend Farm The farm lies at the east foot of Elder Hill. It is said to have been settled by Hanover Wilberrin on lot 4127. This was one of the "Conway Lots") (4125-26-27-24). There lots were also known as the "Randolph Lots"; they belonged to (?) Randolph who paid little attention to them. Moyson (I think that is what it says, p.a.t) Conway "squatted" on the lots and finally held them "by possession". Conway resided in a plank house on lot 4127(?) Hanson Wilburn built story and half log cabin still standing near Bonnell Friends home. On March 12, 1852, Hansen W. Wilburn & wife to Henry Friend, "Bear Branch", 25 acres. On Sept. 24, 1859, Henry K. Friend & wife deeded to Elijah Friend (of I.) "Bear Branch". On Aug. 17, 1865 Isiah Friend & wife deeded to to [sic} Elijah Friend of Israel, "Thomaston" a lot pat. 1859 On April 29, 1893 Wm. H. Dawson, trustee, deeded to Johnathan B. Friend, ($695.20) pt. (it looks like pt.-p.a.t) "Bear Creek Iron Works". This land was of the Williams heirs- Rebecca M. & Wm. G. S. Williams of Baltimore. Bunnell Friend's farm:- Johnathan Friend first built above the graveyard; later he built a good log home at the Hobard Bishoff place. He & his son Isaiah built a water saw mill on Bald Hill Run. Henry K. Friend, son of Johathan, lived in the log part of the old Wilburn home. J.(squiggles, p.a.t) Bunnell Friend, his son, inherited the farm and resides there until the present. Sadly the letter is not dated or signed.

Heritage Quest has Emanuel Custer indexed as Curter Charles is listed as 8/12 born Nov. I had Henry Amster Custer listed as born Dec. 10, 1869. Maybe that is a typo and it should read Nov. 10, 1869? Can anyone confirm is true birth date? Am not certain he is exactly your Charles. I show that Henry Amster 'Charles' Custer was married to Lillie Belle KNOTS. and they had at least two children, Ruhl and another No First Name. This is not my direct connection to Emanuel III. I descend through his wife Mary Virginia DeWitt. Emanuel married 4 times and had children with all of his wives.
