I rechecked and at the bottom of the deed, it says Lidia, w/o John Renner.... Land indenture dated 28 Sep 1816 from John and Jacob RENNER to Jacob HEFFNER, s/o Jacob Frederick HEFFNER. I have seen errors before in the names as they copied the data into the book. Possibly getting a copy of the deed for comparison would help. I'm not going to the courthouse anytime soon, but perhaps somebody on this list is and could check it out for you. It will help me locate the land of my Engle ancestors. But there is one thing ... the abstract mentions John Renner and his wife Lydia. This particular name combination puzzles me. I know of a John and Jacob Renner in this area at about this time; they were the sons of another John Renner (died ca 1798) and his wife Mary (maybe Mary Wine). I also know of another brother in this family named Daniel Renner ... who had a wife named Lydia. The thing that puzzles me is the coincidence that brothers John and Daniel both had wives name Lydia ... since the name Lydia is not all that common. Would it be possible for you to check the abstract book to confirm that Lydia is named as the wife of John Renner ?? --snip-- DICK FOLKERTH Dallas, Texas
