On February 28, 1819, Outerbridge Horsey Jr., the great grandson of Maryland Governor Thomas Sim Lee, who produced one of America's finest rye whiskeys at his Burkittsville distillery, was born. He died January 5, 1902. On February 28, 1840, reels were put into the Hessian Barrack in Frederick to begin silk manufacture. On February 28, 1953, Frederick and Braddock Heights telephones were converted to dial operations and transferred to a new cross-bar office at 33 East Patrick Street in Frederick. On February 28, 1993, fire destroyed the sanctuary of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Adventist Drive near Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick.
