There is a book called "The German Regiment of Maryland and Pennsylvania" by Henry J. Retzer. It contains two refences to Adam spelled Mushler and Mussler. He enlisted 30 April, 1778 for three years as a substitute in Baltzells company wounded 1780 and in Sudbury, Pa General hospital. Transferred to 5th company of 3rd Maryland Regiment to 1782. the German Regiment was German speaking elistees, under the leadership of bilingual officers. They were at many battles and Valley Forge Later in the War they were folded into the regular troops of the "Maryland Line". Adam applied for a pension from Fayette Co, Pa in 1820 and paid from l8l8 on. His age in 1835 is given as 86. Adam is not in 1790 or l800 census of Frederic county. If you think Adam himself is the emigrant, he would probably be in the naturalization records. but he could also be second or third generation. Check both Md and Pa. Check the Frederick county Historical Society for any of these sources. Anne W. You are AMAZING! I do want to be sure I come to the right place in Maryland, so maybe someone can help me with this dilemma. The ancestor I'm attempting to track down is Adam Mushler/Muschler who was a private on the Maryland line. His revolutionary service was for three years with the German Battalion under Col. Weather, Captain Maltzell and three years with the 3rd Maryland Regiment. Adam was at the battle of Monmouth, the taking of Lord Cornwallis, and was wounded near the Susquehanna River. Adam's second enlistment was in the Livitt Sears Company, 2nd Maryland Regiment for three years and was discharged at Fort Pitt. What does "the Maryland line" mean? Does the historical society/ibrary in Frederick have info about the Rev. war and immigration records, hopefully prior to the 1780s?? Thank you again! The listers on this list are amazing! I feel welcome in Frederick county before having arrived.
