On September 23, 1813, Dr. John Hanson Thomas, longtime president of Farmers & Mechanics National Bank, who on several occasions used his own wealth to tide the bank over difficult times, was born. On September 23, 1991, W. Milnor Roberts, a local lawyer and former Frederick City attorney, was appointed a judge of the Frederick County District Court.
