    3. On March 16, 1829, Secretary of State Henry Clay arrived in Frederick for a stay of several days. A banquet was given for him at Talbott's Tavern on the 17th, but the $3 per person price for the event was considered expensive. On March 16, 1862, Sgt. Hanson T. C. Green, a Frederick native and member of Cole's Rangers, captured three Confederate soldiers just outside Winchester, VA, and was commended for his gallantry. On March 16, 1921, the Walkersville Homemakers' Club was organized. Mrs. A. G. McKinney was elected its first president. On March 16, 1953, fifteen residents of Rosemont, near Brunswick, held a meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Smith, to discuss the formation of an incorporated community.
