As many of you are aware, for reasons still unclear, at least unclear to me, many FCPL patrons have had trouble accessing Heritage Quest remotely. Our computer people worked on it last week. It is seems to be a problem with Proquest and firewalls. I do not know why it suddenly started, there was some change in the url, but don't really know if that was the reason. As you all are also aware, we get Heritage Quest through the state. Therefore, if you are continuing to have trouble please contact the Sailor help Desk at 410-396-4636 or askus@sailor.lib.md.us. as your first line of troubleshooting. Further information about the Help Desk can be found at http://www.sailor.lib.md.us/help/hdesk.html. I have also been advised that people should consult http://www.etsupp.com/firewalls. As a last recourse the toll free support number for Proquest is 1-800-889-3358. Please contact Sailor first as they need to know that there is a problem, if one exists. I know it is frustrating to have to go through all this. I am very sorry for the inconvenience many of you have been experiencing. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix the problem. Sailor has told me that our county seems to be the only county that is having trouble. It don't make any sense to me either.
