On March 2, 1821, Peter and Kitty, Negro brother and sister, were hanged at the Old Magazine on the Harper's Ferry Road, for the murder of their master's wife, Mrs. William (Catherine) Baker, in August 1820. On March 2, 1891, Dr. Joseph B. Garrott, a druggist who operated Garrott's Pharmacy on South Market Street, the predecessor to Pearre's Apothecary, died unexpectedly at age 47. He was survived by his wife, the former Henrietta Loutham, and two daughters, Nellie, 16, and Susie, 11. On March 2, 1970, Fredericktown Bank and Trust Company opened its new 24,000 square foot building in the unit block of North Market Street. The new facility replaced a building with 5,000 square feet. The institution was founded in 1828. On March 2, 1974, the main studio and executive offices of WTRI radio in Brunswick were destroyed by fire. The station returned to the air on March 7 from a mobile studio borrowed from WDON in Wheaton.
