Dear List: Where do I look to find info on this John? 1790 Census - Frederick Co Page 251 John Hilton 1 1 2 --- Daughter Mary married John Braddock 2/23/1809 German Reformed Church, Frederick Daughter Elizabeth married William Braddock 8/25/1812 German Reformed Church, Frederick Son John born April 22, 1787 died July 21, 1856 Georgetown, DC. May 17, 1802 Apprentice "John Hilton, Jr, aged 15 y last April 22, with consent of his father John Hilton, Sr, to Mathias Bartgis, printer to age 21." I know that Mathias Bartgis is a well-known newspaper printer in Frederick. John Jr. named one of his sons John Perry Hilton. Mary Hilton Braddock named one of her sons William Perry Braddock. 1790 Census - Frederick Co Page 253 there is a Sarah Perry no male head of family ( - 2 2 - 4). Could there be a connection? Would like more info on this Perry family. John Jr. may have married a Sarah who died DC 1865. I have no proof but both John Hilton and Sarah Hilton are buried in the same plot of 13 grave sites purchased by John Perry Hilton. No tombstone inscriptions to give a clue and they are not buried beside each other. Could this Sarah be a Sarah Perry, daughter of the 1790 Sarah Perry? I would appreciate any suggestions or information. John Sr. is my 3rd great grandfather and has been the brick wall I can't seem to pull down. Thanks! Ruth Fleak Goose Creek, SC
