On December 19, 1881, William Tyler Page, who was born and raised on Record Street in Frederick, was appointed a congressional page. He wrote The American's Creed. On December 19, 1929, Charles Lewis, 43, of Thurmont, declared his innocence from the witness stand in the death of Frederick County Sheriff's Deputy Clyde L. Hauver during his murder trial in Hagerstown. Hauver was killed during a raid on a still at Blue Blazes, three miles west of Thurmont.
