On February 21, 1843, William P. Maulsby, Jr., who entered as a private and rose to the rank of colonel in the Union Army during The Civil War, was born in Westminster. He died November 14, 1911. He was a prominent lawyer in Frederick for most of his adult life. On February 21, 1981, fire heavily damaged the Grace United Church of Christ on West Second Street in Frederick.
