Has anyone on the list did the DNA testing? I did it using my brother so I could trace the Hoffman surname. It is very interesting. I'm still trying to figure everything out but I am beginning to understand. On the map, one of the lines go from US (I actually think it is around CA) all the way back to near Iraq. A long time ago I received somthing stating how many things started in Iraq. The garden of Eden was in Iraq. I could go on and on. But we all know, I think, about the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve. How they started everything. (I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes. If so just delete this) So it stands to reason if everything started in the Garden of Eden/Iraq then it is only natural that our lines would all go back to that part of the country. The info we receive from the DNA testing does not just say a person that we definately connect to, but it gives us info to go on. I received a DVD from National Geographic telling how they had traced the DNA way back to Africa and that area. Like I say, it is very interesting. The National Geographic testing sent the DVD with our info. I actually used FTM testing. I think either of them are very interesting but you get the DVD FREE from National Geographic. Has anyone else gotten into the DNA testing? I would be interested to know your feeling about the subject. Harriet
Harriet and others, I had my mtDNA done in about 2002 after reading Brian Sykes book "The Seven Daughters of Eve." (the European Eves). I am in haplogroup U and am currently having my results refined. Also am enrolled in the National Geographic and Scandinavian projects. It has been very rewarding and interesting having this done. Currently my cousin is having her mtDNA done and she has the DNA being passed on from a direct female maternal line that could also have some impact for myself and others on this list. Her samples from her cheek swabs are being processed and if all goes well we should have those results in late March. Just finished Sykes new book Saxons, Vikings and Celts and recommend it for anyone interested in this subject. He also says in this new book he almost had at the time an 8th European Eve and does include her now as a group.
