    3. On December 21, 1874, William Gideon Baker, Jr., who founded the financial house of Baker, Watts in 1900, was born in Buckeystown. He died in Baltimore County on December 27, 1948. On December 21, 1881, the elopement of Mrs. John Devilbiss and A. M. Geisbert, both of Creagerstown, was reported in Frederick's newspapers. Mrs. Devilbiss had abandoned her husband and children on December 2. On December 21, 1938, a contract was awarded to Calvin Owens, of Bethesda, for the construction of a new Frederick High School for a contract price of $369,000. The building on Carroll Parkway has undergone many renovations since, and now a new Frederick High School is being constructed as a cost of $115 million.
