On December 7, 1909, The Frederick and Middletown Railroad Company, the Braddock Heights and Jefferson Railroad Company, and the Washington, Frederick and Gettysburg (steam) Railroad Company were merged into the Frederick Railroad Company, with Emory L. Coblentz as president. On December 7, 1941, Frederick's 29th National Guard Division reported for duty following the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. On December 7, 1971, the signing of a contract between The Frederick Jaycees and The United States Olympic Committee to hold the women's track and field trials in Frederick in July 1972 was announced.
