Hi, I am seeking Lantz's in Frederick in the 1790 and 1800 census years. I noticed that in 1790, the county was not divided into districts. In 1800, there were districts. I found a Lantz who lived in District 3 in 1800. How would I find out where that district was in the county in 1800? Thanks in advance. Regarding the Klein's who founded Littlestown, PA... I've been tracking a group of allied families who seem to move together from arriving by ship in Philadelphia, through New Holland in Lancaster County or Berks Co. circa 1730's, then down to Frederick, MD then by the 1770's to Littlestown, Adams Co. Surnames involved are Winterode (Wenderoth/Wintrode); Sell; Bucher; Keplinger, etc. Some of their children are baptized in New Holland, most in Frederick area, a few later ones in Littlestown. All of these families intermarry at one point or another. Did the Klein's follow a similar migration pattern? They are often neighbors to above in Germany Township, Adams Co. These allied families obviously were following Peter Klein to his new settlement? Jonathan Beacher bucher@SiteServers.net
Jay, I had an ancestor on that Aug ship too. His name was David Stottlemyer (it is spelled differently on the list. He ended up in the Middletown area of Frederick County. Where did your ancestor end up? People often say that David was from Munich but that was really early to come from Munich although he may have come from the western part of Bavaria. I am trying to find information about a James Williams family with a daughter Nancy living in Frederick Co. MD in the mid to late 1780s. All I have been able to access so far is a census record for 1790. Does anyone have any more detailed list of his children or where the family went after this? It appears they were involved in the Lutheran Church. Thanks so much. Kay Goeggle kgoeggle@bellsouth.net
