    1. [MDFR] Theobald Boone & Boon's Content of Frederick Co., MD Johann Diel Boone of Frederick Co., MD
    2. SHIRLEY MOLLER
    3. Hello List, With the help of another list I figured out where Boon's Content and Theobold Boone of Frederick Co., belong. The following is the message I sent to the Boone list. Shirley Middleton Moller From: "SHIRLEY MOLLER" < shirleymoller@verizon.net> Subject: [BOONE] Boon's Content Date: Thu, 26 Oct 2006 08:39:43 -0700 Hello List, With the help of some on the list I was told that the tract of land Boon's Content possibly belonged to Johann Diel Boon of Frederick Co., MD. I have a copy of the book The German Bohen-Bohn-Boon-Boone Family Descendants of Johann Diel Bohne of Maryland 1711-1764; by Nellie Woods Whedon compiled in the year 1945. Her book/info is what we find today posted on many websites regarding this family. She is the compiler [that is the term she applies to herself] that corrected the fallacy that Johann Diel Boone was related to the Danile Boone family. [But even today, we can find web sites that have Johann Diel Boon a son of George Boone and Mary Maugridge.] I'm passing on what Mrs. Whedon has to say about Theobold Boon and Boon's Content belonging to Johann Diel Boone. And I've included the abstract of Johann Diel Boon's Will also. Rochelle, if I remember right, I think I did an article for the Compass on this family sometime ago. Thanks to all those that helped, Shirley Middleton Moller The German Bohen-Bohn-Boon-Boone Family Descendants of Johann Diel Bohne of Maryland 1711-1764 , By Nellie Woods Whedon 1945 Page 2 It is not known where Johann and family spent the first few years after their arrival in America. On April 10, 1750, 50 acres located near Frizellburg, now Carroll County, Maryland, called "Boon's Content" were patented to Theobald Boon [Land Warrant No. 587, Prince George County.] We know by his will that this was Johann Diel Bohn whose name was often misspelled by public officials. On March 28, 1752, at the request of Deal Boone, the following marks of his cattle and hogs were recorded. "The left ear cropt and a nick in the right ear" [Land Record B. folio 545, 1748-52, Frederick, Md.]. On Sept. 16, 1752, he acquired 80 acres of the "Resurvey on Shear Spring" [Land Warrant No. 1970, Prince George County.] On Oct. 10, 1758, 40 acres of the tract "No Whiskey" [Land Warrant No. 2821.] At the time of his death in 1764, he owned those three tracts of land. 80 perches [½acre] were set aside on the "Shear Spring" tract as a family burial ground. Practically all trace of this is gone at present. These three tracts remained in the family until 1777, until the death of widow, Mary, or until the youngest son, Adam, became of ages, as provided by the will of Johann. On Sept. 18, 1777, Jacob Boon [son] and wife Catrin deeded all their interest in "Shear Spring" and "Boon's Content" together with a lot in Frizellburg, to Mary Triplott of Baltimore [Liber R.P., folio 250]. [In 1782, Jacob and his younger brother, John, appeared in Bedford, now Franklin Co., VA., John going to Montgomery County in 1807 and living in the part that became Floyd County in 1831]. On March 18, 1783, Nicholas Boon [son] sold the tract "No Whiskey", left to him by his father, to Michael Wagoner [Liber W.R.#4.folio 283.] The Bohn-Boon land passed thro various hands until it was inherited by Mr. Edward Formwalt, who deeded it to his stepson, Mr. F.H. Haines, the present owner. MARYLAND CALENDAR OF WILLS, VOL 13 BOONE [BONE], HANDEAL, Frederick Co. 1 Nov, 1761 13 Apr, 1764 Being in good health and sound mind, about to depart on a voyage to Germany, do make this my last will. To son Nicholas, tract of land called No Whiskey, Frederick Co., 40 A.; he to pay my sons John and Adam, when they are of age, 5 lbs. money; 10 A., "Shear Spring. To son Jacob, dwelling plantation, 125 A., paying to son Abraham, 50 lbs. money at the end of 2 years. To children: John, Adam, Margaret, Mary, Katharine and Elizabeth, personal estate. To wife Mary, dwelling plantation until youngest son is of age. Exs: Joest Runkle and Daniel Zacharius Wit: Michael Moyer[?]. Second name illegible. 32.187 ----- Original Message ----- From: SHIRLEY MOLLER To: mdfreder@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 5:21 PM Subject: Look up please Hello List, Would like a look up Theobold Boon/Boone and Boon's Content, ca 1749. 1. [MDFR] I have a couple questions..
    2. Hi! My name is Randi Boyer and I am researching my family history. Most of my primary research has been in Washington County so I am new to the Frederick County mailing list. I have a few questions about places to research etc. I have been to the library in Frederick already but was wondering about other resources available. I was also wondering if anyone on this list is researching any of the following surnames in the area: Eakle, Boyer, Hurt, Hirsh, Martell, Hartman, Burck, Wisner, Cecil, Eyler, Rohrback, Ruby, Calp. One more question before I go. I have a brick wall with my gr gr grandmother Ada Frances Rohrback(married name). I have not been able to figure out what her maiden name is nor her parents names. I will list all the information that I have on her now. She was born February 18, 1872 and was born near Middletown. She married Charles Albert Rohrback(not sure when). They had 4 children Hattie Cordelia Rohrback, Henson(Hanson) Henry Rohrback, Louella Florence Rohrback, and Charles Clayton Rohrback. She passed away March 14, 1954. Her obituary states the following: The News Frederick Maryland Monday March 15, 1954 Mrs. Ada F. Rohrback, widow of Charles A. Rohrback, died at the home of her son, Charles C. Rohrback, Gapland, on Sunday Afternoon at 3 o'clock, aged 82 years of complications after being ill one month, She was a member of Locust Valley Church of God and was born near Middletown. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Hattie Wise, Gapland, and Mrs. Luella Butts, Locust Valley two sons Henson H. Rohrback, Baltimore, and Charles C. Rohrback, Gapland, eight great grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call at the funeral home in Boonsboro untill Thursday noon. The body will lie in state in Locust Valley Church of God from 1 to 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon when services will be held. Rev. Gerald Carbaugh will officiate. Interment will be in Locust Valley Cemetery William F. Bast and Son, funeral directors. I found a article in the newspaper a while ago and it had her and her son visiting a Mr. and Mrs. Henson Boyer but I can't find anything other than that connecting her to Boyers. It's not unusual that her son and Mr. Boyer would have the same first name but it's interesting. In census documents I found that Henson Boyer had a daughter named Ada F. but her estimated birth is 1874 which could be wrong. The only other lead to her last name is in her daughter Hattie's obituary it list Hattie as the child of Charles and Ada Barnes Rohrback. I have searched for Barnes in Middletown around the time she was born and couldn't find any. Boyer seems like the more logical last name but I would like further proof. Any places that I should check or any suggestions anyone has for me would be appreciated. Her first child was born in 1895 so I am assuming they were married sometime in the early 1890's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Randi Eakle-Boyer

    2. Steven Hoffman
    3. Randi, I think you are on the right track.....A Henson Boyer and wife, Susan are listed with a daughter Ada F. Boyer in the 1880 censusof the lower part of Middletown-District 3. Listed just above them is the family of Oliver Boyer-probably Henson's brother as they are of similar age. I would guess that Ada was married to a Barnes first and was widowed young. (or maybe not) Maybe you could check the marriage records for a Boyer/Barnes marriage prior to Hattie's birth. Then you'd be able to look for a burial or obituary for the Barnes. ***Also, In the 1900 census-Burkittsville District, I see that Charles and Ada Rohrback's son was named Hanson. Also named are Hattie and Louella. Pretty good bet, he's named after his grandfather and Ada IS Henson and Susan Boyer's child. Good luck. Hope this helps some. Cindy H.

    3. Mary Hilton married John Braddock 2/23/1809 in the German Reformed Church, Frederick. Elizabeth Hilton married William Braddock 8/25/1812 in the same church. They had a brother, John Hilton. I believe John was born April 22, 1787 in MD (probably Frederick) and died July 21, 1856 in Georgetown, DC. I am looking for more information about John and the parents of John, Mary and Elizabeth. Any help will be appreciated. Ruth Fleak Goose Creek, SC Researching Hilton, Cady, Rowe in MD & DC; Rowzee, Thompson in VA & DC.
