    3. I have posted queries mentioning in 1762 Edward Trafford, Esq took my George Hardy, Jr. and William Hardy, Sr. to court in Loudoun Co., Va. for not paying their debts. Witnesses were Luke Marbury and Ann Beanes. The debts went back to 1742-1752 at Prince George's landing. Luke Marbury has interested me and I have found the following records on the Marbury family in Loudoun County, Va. (1) 1 May 1753 Francis,Thomas and Leonard Marbury leased lands in Fairfax Co., Va. Loudoun was formed from Fairfax in 1757. (2) 1 May 1758 Francis Marbury renewed the lease in his name only. (3) In 1759 Francis Marbury served as Constable in Loudoun Co., Va. He was also on the tithable list 1759-1765. (4) In 1763 In Loudoun County there was a warrant for Leonard Marbury (Sr. or Jr. ??) to answer plea of Trespass. Damage against Thomas Hanson Marshall. Thomas Hanson Marshall entered a Plea of Trespass upon the case, damage - three thousand pounds of crop tobacco against Leonard Marbury. The warrant was issued to Leonard Marbury at the county court house 16th Sep 1763 to answer the charges. (5) In 1764 in Loudoun, Leonard Marbury was "not found" by the Sheriff. It appears that Francis Marbury put up the security (6) In Charles County Gentry page 233 it states " The will of Elizabeth Hanson dated 19 Mar 1764 and proved in Charles County 15 June 1764 by George Lee and Leonard Marbury, Jr." They were witnesses to the will. (7) 12 Mar 1764 Francis Marbury sold his lease in Loudoun. (8) In the 1765 Court cases in Loudoun involving Leonard,... Francis Marbury is also named. (9) 9 Sep 1766 Leonard Marbury served upwards of 20 days in prison in Loudoun. (10) 23 Sep 1765 a complaint that Francis Marbury is "goodly indebted to John Glassford the sum of 5 pounds, 5 shillings, and eleven pence half penny current money and that he is "about to move". It appears that Francis may have moved to Rowan Co., NC about 1765. My question is : The Elizabeth Hanson will in 1764 in Charles that was witnessed by George Lee and Leonard Marbury, Jr. ....who is she if anyone knows ? In closing this query I can see my "Hardy Boys" in Loudoun weren't the only ones who got in trouble. ..... HA !! Maranne Dillow
