For the benefit of those who don't already have this: Francis Montgomery, the oldest son of Peter, gave his age as 43 years in a deposition made on January 16,1753, when defining the bounds for a tract of land called "Intent" for Elizabeth Hagan. Also Richard Montgomery stated in a deposition of the same day that he was 31 years of age, that he was the brother of Francis, and that he was also a son of Peter Montgomery. (Ref. Land Books, Charles County, #47 B. #3, 1752-1753, page 348.) That would put Peter Montgomery's age at 26 at the time of the birth of his oldest son, Francis. From: A43031949 To: Plattshirl Shirl, I certainly do concur that James Montgomery, born 1716 in Charles County, died April 1, 1780, married to Mary Middleton, was the son of Peter Montgomery. Incidentally, probate record- will dated same year James died, showed he had been a private in the Charles County militia. LDS records indicate he was born in France but everything I have found point to birth in Charles County, where he died.
