    3. Several of the early residents left for some reason, like the various rebellions, and then returned. The first time, someone paid for their immigration, the second time, they paid for their own. i.e. they were transported the first time and immigrated the second. I don't know if Skordas or Gibbs were picky about how a person received a land grant.     3. Shirley et al, I believe that if you immigrate, it's your choice to do so. If you are transported, you have to go. The court sends you away because you have done something wrong.
