I have posted queries mentioning in 1762 Edward Trafford, Esq took my George Hardy, Jr. and William Hardy, Sr. to court in Loudoun Co., Va. for not paying their debts. Witnesses were Luke Marbury and Ann Beanes. The debts went back to 1742-1752 at Prince George's landing. Luke Marbury has interested me and I have found the following records on the Marbury family in Loudoun County, Va. (1) 1 May 1753 Francis,Thomas and Leonard Marbury leased lands in Fairfax Co., Va. Loudoun was formed from Fairfax in 1757. (2) 1 May 1758 Francis Marbury renewed the lease in his name only. (3) In 1759 Francis Marbury served as Constable in Loudoun Co., Va. He was also on the tithable list 1759-1765. (4) In 1763 In Loudoun County there was a warrant for Leonard Marbury (Sr. or Jr. ??) to answer plea of Trespass. Damage against Thomas Hanson Marshall. Thomas Hanson Marshall entered a Plea of Trespass upon the case, damage - three thousand pounds of crop tobacco against Leonard Marbury. The warrant was issued to Leonard Marbury at the county court house 16th Sep 1763 to answer the charges. (5) In 1764 in Loudoun, Leonard Marbury was "not found" by the Sheriff. It appears that Francis Marbury put up the security (6) In Charles County Gentry page 233 it states " The will of Elizabeth Hanson dated 19 Mar 1764 and proved in Charles County 15 June 1764 by George Lee and Leonard Marbury, Jr." They were witnesses to the will. (7) 12 Mar 1764 Francis Marbury sold his lease in Loudoun. (8) In the 1765 Court cases in Loudoun involving Leonard,... Francis Marbury is also named. (9) 9 Sep 1766 Leonard Marbury served upwards of 20 days in prison in Loudoun. (10) 23 Sep 1765 a complaint that Francis Marbury is "goodly indebted to John Glassford the sum of 5 pounds, 5 shillings, and eleven pence half penny current money and that he is "about to move". It appears that Francis may have moved to Rowan Co., NC about 1765. My question is : The Elizabeth Hanson will in 1764 in Charles that was witnessed by George Lee and Leonard Marbury, Jr. ....who is she if anyone knows ? In closing this query I can see my "Hardy Boys" in Loudoun weren't the only ones who got in trouble. ..... HA !! Maranne Dillow

I have had queries on the Charles mailing list speaking of Goose Creek in Loudoun County, Va and have been asked where Goose Creek is in Charles County. Goose Creek in Charles County is a small tributary running off the Port Tobacco River at Port Tobacco with La Plata near by. Marianne Dillow [email protected]

Thanks to those who answered my query seeking a marriage record for SARAH HANSON that was reported to have married my WILLIAM HARDY and had son HANSON HARDY who was in the 1770 deed in Loudoun County, Va, Her brother JOHN HANSON born 1739 was listed in Loudoun in 1760 with one tithable and in the 1762 Loudoun Fee Book he was deceased with a JAMES MURRAY as his Adm. No other info on JOHN. Charles County Gentry gives SARAH and JOHN as the children of JOHN HANSON (17---1795) , son of ELIZABETH unknown...later it has been discovered she was ELIZBETH TYLER, daughter of WILLIAM TYLER and wife ELIZABETH unknown.... (when WILLIAM TYLER died ELIZABETH married the second time to HENRY MASSEY , no children by this 2nd marriage)...therefore ELIZABETH TYLER is the stepdaughter to HENRY MASSEY which makes ELIZABETH TYLER the correct name of the one that married JOHN HANSON born 1709-1795). However there is no ino on SARAH except her birthdate in Charles County Gentry as : bap 11 Feb 1753..no other info as her marying my WILLIAM HARDY and having son HANSON HARDY. I cannot find a marriage record or any other dates in Loudoun County, Virginia and was hoping maybe these records were somewhere in Charles or Prince George's Counties. The 1st paragraph explains JOHN HANSON, brother to SARAH, so I don't need any other info on him. Charles County Gentry does not give a bithhdate or death date for him although Loudoun County, Va provides the tithable record in Loudoun which would make his birth date as 1739. and the 1762 Loudoun Fee Book provides the death date of 1762.. Does anyone know where JOHN HANSON and ELIZBETH TYLER (stepdaughter of HENRY MASSEY) attended Church ?? or have anymore info on them or their daughter SARAH who married WILLIAM HARDY and is in the 1770 deed on Goose Creek in Loudoun Co., Va. ?? Thank You one and all for trying to help me, Kindly Regards, Marianne Dillow [email protected]

I'm having some trouble keeping messages in order via the new mailing list, so I hope you will answer a question for me. Did you reply to a previously posted message, or did you add the "Re:" to your subject line? This John Hanson's will was mis-leading. He didn't re-write is will after his wife Elizabeth Hussey died. Also, the deposition of Frances Ware can be mis-understood to think that John Hanson was Francis Ware's father. He wasn't. Francis Ware (Sr.) witnessed John Hanson's will and Francis Ware (Jr.) gave the deposition; his father, Francis Ware (Sr.) dying in the interim. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 07, 2007 10:45 AM Subject: Re: [MDCHARLE] John Hanson/Charles Co > > Liber 29, folio 241 > 5 June 1747 > HANSON, JOHN, Charles Co. > To wife, Elizabeth Hanson, for life, whole e.r. & p.& the disposal of my e. > not given to my 3 chldn. I have recently found out that the JOHN HANSON that I posted on that lived in Loudoun Co., Va, was born ca 1739, and was the son of JOHN HANSON and ELIZABETH TYLER. The deed in 1770 in Loudoun of WILLIAM HARDY and wife SARAH and son HANSON HARDY on Goose Creek of which names my ggggp SOLOMON HARDY is listed as present ...... speculation is that, SARAH was a HANSON, sister to JOHN HANSON in 1739 (above) JOHN and SARAH were the children of JOHN HANSON born 1709 and died Bef 31 May 1795 in Charles County and who married ELIZABETH TYLER ,born 7 Jul 1713 in St. John's Parish, Pince George's County, MD., dau of WILLIAM TLER and ELIZABETH who married 2nd to HENRY MASSEY. I cannot find a marriage record for WILLIAM HARDY and SARAH HANSON before the 1770 deed or the birth records of JOHN HANSON and his sister SARAH HANSON in Va. Would anyone have any idea where I could find the birth records on JOHN and SARAH HANSON and also a marriage record for WILLIAM HARDY and SARAH HANSON in MD ?? Thank You, Marianne Dillow [email protected]

Hi, Lynn, This sounds to me like the wording if Sarah and her Golding husband were administrators of John Cornish Brawner's estate. Then, Sarah's Golding husband died before 1811, naming his wife Sarah and his son Harrison Golding as administrators of his estate. They relinquished administration to son Edward Brawner.
