Is anyone familiar with the various districts back in 1880? I have found my great grandfather, Thomas J. Grant, in District 6. Another friend of his was in District 8. Does anyone know how close they may have been? On the census records, they are about 32 pages apart. Thanks so much! This is the website where I found my information on. But there is another map where I saw Zachiah Swamp on it and I have retraced my steps and can't find that map now. Bryantown is near Zachiah Swamp. My Hardy deed said Dividing Run is east of Zachiah Swamp. Sorry. If I had known at the time I was googlling and was going to post it I would have written the steps down. Marianne Dillow wpsc <[email protected]> wrote: Could this be the link? Bryantown is correct. I made a typo error. Leave the parenthesis off. I do it both ways when I google and get hits both ways. But just type in Bryantown, MD . Dear Miranna, I found the map or I assume it was the same map you were referring to. This map was furnished by Bill Smith who wrote a Kinnick Book on line. His Kinnick line went thru MO where my James Harbin born MD married an Elizabeth Kinnick in NC. They migrated to Knox Co, IN. People would write quieries and people would answer. This is how his book was written. I never did see where anyone came on with info about my Elizabeth Kinnick. >I just now googled and retraced my staeps and this is what I did : > Type in Bryanstown, MD.... on the first page the map pops up..click on > the map and click on MAP,,,SATELLITE...HYBRID... it shows the area in > different ways and you can move it around. > > However, in retracing my steps, whenever you type in Bryanstown, MD there > are also entries on that page to find more info on the area and I clicked > on the second entry which is entitled " Intro to Bryanstown.". Marianne. I have tried what you suggest: Googling "Bryanstown, MD" The first item is "St. Mary's Catholic Church Bryanstown, MD" The second is "NOAA Report...Ned Schaffer of Bryanstown, Md" The third is "Southern Maryland Headline News Archive - 2005" and it goes downhill from there. I could bring up a MapQuest map of the Baltimore area which said it had Bryanstown on it but I couldn't find it. Would anyone be familiar with this area where my great grandfather, Thomas J. Grant, lived with his wife, Josephine in 1880? He was Catholic and a school teacher and I'm wondering what school may have been in that area. Perhaps, there was a Catholic parish in the area and he taught there....just a thought. I just now googled and retraced my staeps and this is what I did : Type in Bryanstown, MD.... on the first page the map pops up..click on the map and click on MAP,,,SATELLITE...HYBRID... it shows the area in different ways and you can move it around. However, in retracing my steps, whenever you type in Bryanstown, MD there are also entries on that page to find more info on the area and I clicked on the second entry which is entitled " Intro to Bryanstown.". Play around with it and click on the different areas and it shows different areas of info. I may have clicked on other places on Bryanstown entries there too as there was a lot of information on the area. I just played around with it until I found what I was looking for. Marianne Dillow
I typed several things in on Google and I believe the last thing I typed in was "Bryantown, MD"...If I remember correctly the map popped up on the first page and I clicked on the map. You can move the map around with your pointer and go to different forms of it on the map. Hope this helps. Marianne Dillow "Betty H. I just received an email from the Leicestershire mailing list that states the following : " There are Dent's in Newhall, South Derbyshire, very close to the Leicestershire border." Marianne Dillow
Thanks !! I appreciate it..... I found the information about Zachiah Swamp and Bryanstown by googling. When I typed in Bryanstown, MD., the first page had a map on it of the area. When I clicked on the map it showed the area plus more information giving the history as well as the map. Marianne Dillow
I am on the Charles mailing list as well as the Leicestershire list in England as Henry Hardy named his kinsman George and Henry Hardy in Loughborough in his 1714 will in Charles County. I received a query from Leicestershire today asking about Ann Dent in 1782. Does anyone know where the Dent family in Charles originated from ?? Thanks, Marianne Dillow
