Yes, Peter Montgomery had 6 children by his first wife, Catherine: Francis, John Baptiste, Peter, Jr, James Ignatius, Richard and Mary Magdalena and 12 children by his second wife, Margaret: Joseph, Mary Ellen, Susannah, William P., Elisha I, Margaret, Elisha II, Ignatius, Benjamin, Charles, Anne Mary and James Henry. Neither of the wives maiden names have ever been proven. The Peter Montgomery line was extensively studied and researched for 40 years by Natalie Montgomery Baker (who was the *Linda Reno* of Daviess Co, IN). All of her files on the Montgomerys are on microfilm in the LDS library. I visited with Natalie yesterday in the nursing home, she's 83, but her mind is still sharp as a tack. One only has to study the wills to confirm her research. Shirley et al, I believe that if you immigrate, it's your choice to do so. If you are transported, you have to go. The court sends you away because you have done something wrong. Several of the early residents left for some reason, like the various rebellions, and then returned. The first time, someone paid for their immigration, the second time, they paid for their own. i.e. they were transported the first time and immigrated the second. I don't know if Skordas or Gibbs were picky about how a person received a land grant. They may have said a person "immigrated" simply because they were mentioned in the records. ----- Original Message ----- From: "SHIRLEY MOLLER" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 21, 2007 2:16 PM Subject: Re: [MDCHARLE] Zachary Wade > How can one Immigrate and be transported?
