    3. I appreciate everyone on the list that has helped me with trying to prove my Hardy line in Loudoun back to William Hardy 1718. As a way of repaying those people on the list I have posted Virginia records to let you know some of your families were in Virginia. Most of the Cameron Parish Records in Loudoun County, Va. were destroyed with only a remnant left for 1765. These records are for the District above Goose Creek and Little River to the county line of Fauquier. My Hardy line lived on Goose Creek as well as the 1772 deed from Thomas Dent for his niece Ann Gordon (daughter of George Hardey, Jr. and wife Lucy Dent ,sister of Thomas Dent)) ; and John Middeton and wife Mary lived on Goose Creek in 1750 when Loudoun had not been formed from Fairfax County yet. At a Vestry for Cameron Parish 16 Nov 1764 it shows some of the following people : John Piles sexton Broad Run Church.; Charles Tyler (late sherriff plus he was Churchwarden) ; William Massey ; Levan Powell ; William Brooks ; Zebde Compton ? ; Saml. Compton ?; Joshua Gore : Thomas Gore ; John Gore ; John Hatton ? ; James Hawkins ; (my Wm. Hardie ); Charles Lewis ; Stephen Lewis ; Lee Massey ; Walter Middleton ; Holland Middleton, Jr. ; Thos. Middleton, Jr. ; Holland Middleton ; Thos. Middleton ; Isaac Nichols ; Pines Owsley ; John Dueat Owsley ; Thos. Owsley ; Newdijate Owsley ; Chris. Perfect ; Nathaniel Smith ; John Scott ; Richd. Tavener ; Wm. Triplett ; Thos. Triplett ; Danl. Triplett ; and James Hamilton. There is also an Oxley family and some Smith's but I don't know if their from MD or not. I hope this benefits those on the list. Marianne Dillow

    3. Dr. John Wade who died 1658 in Charles County was his brother. They were probably the sons of Robert Wade, along with William Wade. Their brother William seems to have returned to England and the one who stayed in Maryland and Virginia was most likely a nephew. They lived around Cecil and Chilver's Coton in Warwickshire. We couldn't find them absolutely on two trips to England to see the ancestral places, but that was before more records became available. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Reno" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2007 2:15 PM Subject: Re: [MDCHARLE] Zachary Wade >A couple of minor things and a question. > > The dispute at Kent Island would have involved William Claiborne, not Robert > Claiborne. > > "He later lived at Newton, St. Mary's County....." 2. Shirley, So Natalie M. Baker didn't have the birth date for the dau Mary Montgomery that is mentioned in her mother's will? To dau Mary Montgomery, bed sheets and covering Shirley Middleton Moller Hi Shirley, I am going on the theory that daughter, Mary Montgomery, named in her mother Margaret's 1773 will (and apparently unmarried) was probably Anne Mary Montgomery because Mary Magdalena Montgomery b. abt 1726 was referred to as Mary Magdalena Higdon in her father's 1754 will. (Peter does not mention his 2 year old daughter, Anne Mary.) Ignatius Montgomery also refers to his sister, Mary Montgomery in his will dated 7 Aug 1777; and brother James Henry Montgomery refers to his sister, Anne Mary Montgomery in his will probated 2 Sept 1777. Natalie Baker gives a birth year of 1726 for Mary Magdalena Montgomery on her Family Group Sheet on the microfilm; Donnelly gives a birth date of 26 Jun 1739. The birth date of 26 Jun 1739 was the one given to Susannah Montgomery Higdon in that previously mentioned Bible. The birthdate given for Anne Mary is 3 Apr 1752. (I wish I knew if there were copies of these Bible pages somewhere.) Susannah Montgomery is referred to as Susannah Higdon in her mother's 1773 will; daughter Mary Ellen is referred to as Mary Macatee, so both were married prior to 1773. What Natalie has documented makes sense to me. Does anyone have other information that might help us here? 1. Re: [MDCHARLE] Montgomery, Elisha I, Elisha II
    2. You mentioned birthdates of Francis and John Baptiste given in a Bible. What were those dates? Sorry -- forgot to answer that question. The Bible that is purported to be in possession of a Mary Ellen Blandford apparently contains birthdates for some of the other children -- but I am not sure about Francis and John Baptiste. That is why I asked if Dave Brickey was on this list. But then there is this for Francis: "Francis Montgomery, the oldest son of Peter, gave his age as 43 years in a deposition made on January 16,1753, when defining the bounds for a tract of land called "Intent" for Elizabeth Hagan. Also Richard Montgomery stated in a deposition of the same day that he was 31 years of age, that he was the brother of Francis, and that he was also a son of Peter Montgomery." (Ref. Land Books, Charles County, #47 B. #3, 1752-1753, page 348.) (That makes Peter about 26 at the birth of Francis.) My notes on John Baptiste: -Donnelly gives a birth year of 1711 for John Baptist, but no source -Natalie Montgomery Baker does not give a birth year for John Baptista Montgomery. I personally am using the information documented by Natalie. 3. Hello all, Does anyone by some slim chance have any pics of Bemjamin Franklin Montgomery (he was known as Franklin by the way). My cousin up in Maryland has some pics of some of the Gilmores and Montgomerys. She showed me one one time of a beautiful young lade that was a Montgomery. Long dark hair, etc.. I have been trying to get her to make copies ever since. It has been years and I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never get them. Take care, Dave

    1. [MDCHARLE] Wife of John Montgomery, Sr.?
    2. David Middleton Edelen II
    3. Hello all, Someone was just asking me who the parents of James Henry Montgomery, born in 1812, were. James Henry Montgomery was the father of Benj. Franklin Montgomery. Anyway, the father of J.H. Montgomery was John Montgomery, Sr., but his mom, John's first wife, is unknown. Does anyone know who she was? Below is the excerpt from my file with this generation: ------------------- IV. JOHN MONTGOMERY, SR., B. Abt. 1785 in Charles County, MD.--D. Bet. 3/20/1848 & 4/4/1848 in Charles County, MD. Buried in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Byantown, Charles Co., Md. Near the tombstone of Benj. Franklin Montgomery (below) is the tombstone of John Montgomery. I believe it is our John's. On it it says: "John Montgomery, Pvt., 1 Regt., MD Militia, War of 1812; 1780-1848." For John Montgomery 's "Will", see down below: -M- 1ST WIFE UNKNOWN: B: Abt. 1780 in MD m: Abt. 1800 in MD, D: Bef. 1820 in MD.. ISSUE: 1. 3. Hey Norma, Here is a note from my file, actually an email from Mike Clark: My grandmother claims that the Montgomery family had many issues because they were quite wealthy in France/England, owning much land along a border between two ruling feifs. At one point, they fell out of favor with whomever was ruling their particular lands and Peter was jailed along with other family members. Because of their wealth, they were able to leave imprisionment and reestablish themselves by leaving to settle in America. I need to go back and dig up my notes and see what else she shared in this regard. It wasn't that he committed a crime, it was that their tremendous land ownership was a threat to the ruling family. What I can't reconcile is why he brought his child, but not his wife across the seas. He remarried in the states, but it appears that Margaret and Catherine (his two wives) both had the same last name (hagan). Did he bring his 1st wife's sister to America? Did his first wife die during the voyage to America and her sister was in tow? SO many questions! Mike

    3. A couple of minor things and a question. The dispute at Kent Island would have involved William Claiborne, not Robert Claiborne. "He later lived at Newton, St. Mary's County....." That should read "He later lived at Newtown, St. Mary's County....." Now for the question. Does anyone know how Zachary Wade was related to Dr. John Wade? I'm thinking nephew, but don't know. Will of Dr. John Wade (no County stated) probated 9/4/1658. Son, Edward all property belonging to testator and his wife Mary which was given them by Edward Attkins of Chilveronton in Warwickshire by will or deed of gift. Daughter: Mary personal estate which is to be paid testator at the death of Nicholas Hoskins and his wife Elizabeth the bond of which money is in the hands of John Wade of Chilveronton. Son: John Wade, son of Ann Smith, who formerly lived with testator in MD, personal estate in the event of death of dau. Mary during minority. 1. [MDCHARLE] Montgomery, Elisha I, Elisha II
    2. You mentioned birthdates of Francis and John Baptiste given in a Bible. What were those dates? Also, you mention Elisha I and Elisha II. Were those the persons David had born in 1743 and 1745? David shows a set of twins, Margaret and Elisha born 14 April 1743, both of whom died the same day. Then he shows another Elisha born 5 Apr 1745. **** Of the 12 children I have for Peter and Margaret Montgomery, there were 2 sets of twins: Mary Ellen and Joseph b. 12 Nov 1737 Elisha I and Margaret b. 14 Apr 1743 **** Joseph Montgomery m.
