Walter, I have a Mounts ancestor whose family purportedly lived in Maryland before migrating to Virginia c. mid 1700's. Family legend has it that he was Blackfoot and Cherokee. I have never been able to ascertain with certainty which Mounts family he came from (he had a James Addair as guardian when he first shows up on a document at age 24 in 1809.), or find the Blackfoot and Cherokee connection in any document. The Blackfoot may have been remnant Siouan peoples such as the Saponi or Tutelo...see a site called Searching for Saponitown....I did find a pocket of All Other Free Persons on the 1790 census for Octorara Hundreds, although I am not sure what AOFP meant in that context.
