I'm trying to find the location of two farms in Cecil Co. "Rising Sun" belonged to the McVey family. "Baker's Addition" belonged to the Byng/Bing family. Can anyone tell me where they are located? Thank you, Caroline Byng
Caroline, Being a Cecil County native, I can only speculate that your Rising Sun may well now be the town of Rising Sun. I am no authority on its' history, but this is a very recognizable name. Upon that caveat; it is located in the very far northwestern part of CCM, on the PA line. It is an area of breathtaking beauty with its' high rolling hills and farmland, even to this day. Can't help you with Baker's Addition, although the descendant Bakers are still in Elkton and friends of my family. A note to anyone on the list: If you have a geographical question, post it here or email me off list and I'll be happy to help as I can. All of us Cecil Countians were very impressed with, (or were imposed), with our history and local geography in our schooling. ;-)) Any Rising Sun people out there reading this and care to chime in?
