Phil, if you are coming to Maryland and your search is for old wills, etc. then they are in Annapolis at the State Archives. After 1850 you can find records at the courthouse in Elkton. The Hist Soc in Elkton may also have valuable information for you. They have online a list of surnames in their vertical files. Since my volumes list no wills, you have to dig into orphans court records and chancery records - at Annapolis. They also have marriages for the counties from 1777.
