    1. [MDCECIL] Margaret REYNOLDS

    3. There is a Margaret Reynolds ELIASON whose name appears in MSA caard Indexes to Colonial Probate Records, a few times between 1750 and 1757; location listed as Cecil County, not specified where. Her name also on these cards as Margaret REYNALDS. I think this must be the wife of Cornelius ELIASON, senior, of Middle Neck Hundred. In his will, her name is Margaret. His estate was finally distributed (say the index cards) in 1757; he had died in 1754; will indexed as Cornelius ELISON Sr. Margaret was made his exec on 14 Jan. 1754, after son Elias declined. Can anyone confirm that Margaret REYNOLDS or REYNALDS was the name of Cornelius ELIASON's wife? Since they had been married in 1703 (North Sassafrass / St Stephen's church records), she would probably have been born not later than 1685. She was 67 in 1752. Who were her parents and family? Thanks very much, Liz J

    3. More observations around Cornelius ELIASON. Cornelius ELIASON (1679-1754) had leased land from Ephraim Augustine HERMAN. He transferred that lease to his two sons in 1750, not long before he died. He was about 70 in that year. Assignment of Lease. Written on the back of a lease from Ephraim Augustine Herman to Cornelius Eliason recorded in Lib. S.K. No. 5, folios 97-99, Cornelius Eliason assigns the lease to his sons Elias Eliason and Cornelius Eliason. Made & Ackn: 5 Apr 1750 . Wit & JPs: P. Bayard, Nich'o Hyland Rec: 5 Apr 1750 M. Bordley, Clerk [the above had been taken from ABSTRACTS OF CECIL CO. MD LAND RECORDS 1734-1753] It might be useful to see a transcription of that lease betwen Ephraim Augustine HERMAN and Cornelius ELIASON --is that available anywhere?? Other observations: Casparus Augustine HERMAN (1655-1697 ), the father of Ephraim Augustine HERMAN, had for his second wife, Anna REYNIERS, who is the mother of Ephraim Augustine HERMAN and two of Ephraim's siblings. The marriage of Casparus Augustine HERMAN and Anna REYNIERS took place on 23 August 1682 in the Dutch Reform Church of New York --same church in which Cornelius ELIASON was baptized (in 1679). "1682 23 Aug; Casparus Hermanszen, wid Susanna Huyberts; Anna Reyniers, jd van N. Yorke, de Eerste woonende aan de Zuytrivier, en tweede alhier" This is interesting if only because, in the index to Probate Records in Maryland state archives, Cornelius ELIASON's wife, Margaret Reyonlds ELIASON, is also called Margaret REYNALDS. Later, in 1761, a Catherine WOOD, daughter of Catherine Julian and Joseph WOOD, married a Thomas REYNOLDS (b ca 1710. Joseph WOOD was a son of Robert WOOD, of Bohemia Manor, and Robert's father, Joseph WOOD, married Francina HERMAN, one of the sisters of the Casparus Augustine HERMAN who married (2) Anna REYNIERS. It gets worse, or better: Cornelius ELIASON's daughter, Rebecca ELIASON, was married on 15 December 1737, 15 Dec 1737, St. Stephens Parish, Cecil Co MD, to a John WOOD. I could use some help with this family, because I also have a Jacob WOOD who married Catalina PETERSON of Middletown Delaware, probably between 1755 and 1765. She belongs to the Adam PETERSON family, who also had large landholdings in the area, close to the DE/MD state line Please help. The ELIASONs of Cecil County and of Delaware have been confusing researchers for a long time, and the WOOD family who is intermarried with the HERMANS family is underresearched. I'm looking for the family of Margaret REYNOLDS (or REYNALDS) now, and will post whatever I discover. Thanks, Liz J * Casparus Augustine HERMAN married (1) Susannah Huyberts (+/1682), (2), Anna Reyniers, and (3), 31 August 1696, Katherine Williams.
