    3. Whew, Liz! Thank you. Actually, I'm not totally convinced yet that Elizabeth ALRICHS is a direct ancestor. I'm sure we have the correct John PRICE, I'm just not sure which wife of John PRICE's I'm descended from! That is why I've done little w/the ALRICHS'. By the way, I have Ann ALRICHS as md: to Alexander PORTER rather than to Samuel PORTER but I can't cite the source for you. I suspect my source "might" have been Anne Wiegle, who is an excellent researcher. And, yes, I agree, Elizabeth ALRICHS md: 1st Peter STALCOP and 2nd John PRICE. I have dates of c1746 for her m: to Peter STALCOP and aft: Dec 1747 for her m: to John PRICE. But neither is primary documentation. Colonial and Revolutionary Families of Pennsylvania, Volumes I-III Price Family Elizabeth Alricks, daughter of Peter and Dorcas (Land) Alricks, married (first) John Stalcop, and (second) John Price, of Lower Chichester township, Chester county, , Pennsylvania, a miller and farmer and large landowner, who died in 1773, leaving six children: Ann, wife of Robert Eyre; Samuel, of whom presently; Hannah, Sarah, John, and Elizabeth. (*J KNOWLES is probably John KNOWLES of Ridley who d: 1759, or the John KNOWLES who d: 1778 of Ridley - JKA) I have no idea what became of the John PRICE/Elizabeth ALRICHS dtr, Sarah PRICE. I am descended from John PRICE's dtr, Ann, who md: Robert EYRE. Below is why I question WHO Ann PRICE's "mother" is: 1]. Certified September 20, 1784. Letters of administration granted to John CROZER April 27, 1802. #202. 5]. Early Pennsylvania Land Record, 1976, William Henry Egle, Editor; Genealogical Publishing Co, Baltimore.; Colonial & Revolutionary Families, Vol III, p. 1359. Townsend "Samuel PRICE, father of John Richards PRICE, and maternal great-grandfather of the subject of this sketch, was a son of John and Mary (ALRICKS) PRICE, and was born in Lower Chichester twp, Chester, no Delaware, cnty, August 30, 1750. ... " One assumes from the order of mention of the children in the above will that Ann PRICE was the first born of John PRICE's children and Samuel PRICE his second born, that Samuel & therefore Ann PRICE, were more than 21 years of age in 1770 when the will was written and therefore born "prior" to 1749. One would also assume that Hannah was also 21 or more years of age and unmarried in 1770 and that Sarah PRICE had not yet attained 21 years of age in 1770. John[2] PRICE would have been less than 21 years of age in 1770 and Elizabeth being the youngest would than also have to have been less than 21. Since John[2] PRICE was an Executor of the will one also assumes that he was in all likelihood 21 years of age in 1773 giving him a birthdate sometime between 1748 & 1752. Either Sarah and John[2] PRICE were twins or John[2] was born between 1749 & 1752. The John PRICE of the will above was said to be a shipwright from Delaware who arrived in Pennsylvania prior to 1742. Which makes the following marriage from the church records of Old Swedes Church in Wilmington, DE quite intriguing. Is the John PRICE of this marriage record the John PRICE of the above will who d: in 1773? Is Elizabeth (nee Wollows) PRICE (Wollows could be Wallace) of this marriage record the mother of "my" Ann PRICE who md: "my" Robert EYRE? IsHannah BUCKLEY one of John PRICE's wives and mother of "my" Ann PRICE? Or is Elizabeth (nee Alricks) the mother of "my" Ann PRICE who md: "my" Robert EYRE??

    3. Hi Judy, Wow, thanks for filling me in on the PRICE families in this. I am so totally not up on them. I very much appreciate the exchange of posts here. I think it's the only way. > By the way, I have Ann ALRICHS as md: to Alexander PORTER rather than to > Samuel PORTER Okay, I'll flag that one & see what I can find. It's probably one of my famous typos or something. Hope this doesn't make more confusion but maybe this below, connection to NJ, then back again to Delaware, will be at least of passing interest. I have a James PRICE family of Monmouth County NJ. have often wondered if there is any connection to the NCC and Chester PRICE family. Info from these came from the old PEARCE-PRICE bible which had been handed down to a lady in NJ. Info in the bible was written up by by Edward J. Raser, in an article in The Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey, Vol. XXVIII, Numbers 3/4, July/October 1953 (Pub. Genealogical Society of New Jersey), Pp. 54, 55, 56. David Tourison of the NJ-List recently compiiled a big set of info about this family because of my connection to the ELLISON family of Monmoth County NJ and also (my branch) of ELLISONs are in Pencader Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. Several surnames in this bible seem to occur both in Monmouth County NJ and in NCC Delaware: CLAYTON, CURTIS, LARKIN, PEARCE PRICE. Some of these families also appear in early land records of NJ --persons buying land along the Delaware River. What was interesting to begin with in the family was James PRICE of Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, NJ, the progenitor of the family whose bible it was, was a mariner. He was born 1718. There are connections to Egg Harbor (south of Monmouth County NJ), and probably connections to residents of NJ (such as CURTIS) living in places along the Delaware. James PRICE married Elizabeth Brinley and had: 1. Elizabeth PRICE 1744-1774 md. Lewis ELLISON (4 ch) 2. Thomas PRICE 1746-1836 3. James PRICE 1748 4. Mary PRICE 1750 5. Lewis PRICE 1752 James PRICE died sometime after 1749. His father was Joseph PRICE, married to a "Phoebe." I don't know anything more about these, but have always wondered if James had siblings, and where they had settled. Deed, 7 August 1749. James Price of Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, NJ, mariner, wife Elizabeth and mother Phebe Brinley sell land in Shrewsbury, near a place called the Red Bank, to John Redford. The land was bequeathed to him by his father Joseph Price. (East Jersey Deeds Bk A-3, p 351). I don't know what became of this family of PRICEs except for Elizabeth. Her husband, Lewis ELLISON married (2) Lydia CURTIS and had several more ch. Lewis Jr ELLISON, youngest son of Lewis ELLISON 1 and Elizabeth CURTIS, married mary LARKIn, and thy ended up in Pencader Hundred, NCC Delaware, between 1811 and 1830 when I find him on th census. If this is of interest, I can send along a goodly amount of info which had been recently complied by David Tourison. Most of my info pertains to the ELLISON family of Monmouth Co. NJ, then Pencader Hundderd, NCC Delaware. Thank you again for the PRICE info. maybe we can find some connection. Liz J On 11/21/06, Judy Ardine <downeast@concentric.net> wrote: > Whew, Liz!
