Hi Judy. Thank you again for the very fine records you sent earlier. And for the great contributions all along. Much of what I have been able to accomplish in the last year or so is because of your efforts in getting this info out there, your efforts and the contributions of some other very kind people here. Let me say Thanks to everyone here and now!! > Liz J, do you have any info on a Peter ALRICHS b: c1695, d: c1760, md: > Dorcas LAND c1720 Emmanuel Episcopal Church, New Castle cnty, DE? I I believe this Peter ALRICHS was first married on 27 November 1715, Philadelphia PA, to Elizabeth APPLETON. She is said to have d. ca 1720 [[death date guess-timate!!]] I have not done any work yet on the APPLETONs. Penna Archives are partly down lately, so I cannot check this marriage record. Need to check the early churches of Philadelphia & vicinity. Here is a tree. I put the children of the Peter ALRICHS and Dorcas LAND that you had wanted all in a group here with the tree around them. See my earlier comments about the early ALRICHS in Netherlands; I can send more if needed. /-- Sigfridus ALRICHS /-- Peter ALRICHS ca 1632-1697 | \-- Annetjen SMAALTIUS (sounds Frisian) /-- Jacobus ALRICHS 1671-/1705 | /-- Maria WESSELS b. a 1632 /-- Peter ALRICHS b. ca 1695 | | \-- John fFORAT +1696 | \-- Hester fFORAT | /-- John fFORAT's unknown first wife +bef 1691 Samuel ALRICHS ca 1727-1764 --md. And additions/corrections always very welcome!! NOTES: Jacobus ALRICHS was bapt in Dutch Reform Church, New York (city): baptism: 1671 Sep 10; Pieter Aldrichs, Maria Wessels; Jacobus; Allard Anthony, Francois Rombout, Anna Elisabeth Wessels - death: before 3 November 1705: Estate Admin to brother Sigfridus Alrichs of New Castle. Peter ALRICHS (father of Jacob, md Maria WESSELS): marriage was 9 February 1664, in Dutch Church of New Amsterdam (New York city) --this was only a few months before the English took over New-Netherlands --at which time New Amsterdam became New York. "1664 09 Feb; Pieter Aldricks, jm van Nykerck in Groeningerlandt; Maria Wessels, jd van Uytrecht" --I think this is the marriage date and not date of Banns. Nykerck in Groningen was the place where his father (Sigfridus) was a minister. Groningen is in the northern part of the Netherlands, the province next to Friesland, between there and Schleswig-Holsten. Peter ALRICHS land in Delaware: A "patent was granted to Peter Alrichs, February 15, 1668, for two islands in the Delaware River, the largest of which was called Matineconek, the Indian of which was Koomenakanokouck. Near the smaller island was a small creek "fitt to build a mill thereupon." There was granted "the said island and premises appertaining, as also the small creek aforementioned neare unto the lesser island, running up a mile within land to have liberty to erect and build a mill thereupon, 57 3/4 where shall be found most convenient, as also a convenient proportion of land on each syde of the said Creek for Egresse and Regresse to and from the Mill, and for other necessary accommodations thereunto belonging." --from Scharf, Thomas J., History of Delaware, 1609-1888, Volume Two, Chapter XLV, "Brandywine Hundred" I know there were other land grants and sales, etc. See Duke of York Record for more. Peter ALRICHS had a lot of different roles over the years and through several changes of government. His activities in the Delaware area are well-documented and available. I think the earliest generation of Alrichs used the Crane Hook Church. I am working on the family/parents of Maria WESSELS, and will get back here with whatever I find. More records of theirs will be found in New Amsterdam/NY Dutch Church. try archives of Dutch-Colonies-List for a head start. Judy, I think your John PRICE connection is the marriage of Elizabeth, d/o of Peter ALRICHS and Dorcas LAND --is that right?? Do you have an earlier marriage for this Elizabeth ALRICHS?? I have an earlier marriage listed for her: first married to John STALCOP?? Had a son Peter?? NOTE: I do not have this John STALCOP places in any family --need parents for him. Also, did they have a daughter who married Dr. Thompson DAVID?? If you have her name and info on him, it would be helpful. (sometime) I hope this helps --if there is something else you would like, please let me know. Anyone, just ask. As always, if anyone has additions or corrections, please do! And thank you again for all ther help and for the interest. Thanks all!
