Donna: Thank you so much for the work you are doing in sharing with us. A couple of the names seem to fit my family line, but the majority as grouped do not. Think they must be from a different line. Again, thank you so much. Ron Donna Hutchings wrote: > There are a lot of Whitaker's. I will list the index of the 1750-1760 book > and then type out pg. 355 where most are found. I have Whitakers in Cecil County, arriving from Chester Co and Berks Co. They all descend from Joseph Musgrave Whitaker who deserted from the British Army during their march from the Elk River landing toward Elkton. There were Quaker Whitakers in Chester Co very early in 18th century. And there were early Whitakers in Harford County. Cathy. My line descends through Mark Whitaker (Whiteaker) m. Catherine Teague of Baltimore County. Probably affiliated with the Church of England. Their son, Thomas, is my direct line. He settled in the Monocacy area of Frederick County. Thomas is believed to have m. Mary Wilson. Have had no luck in identifying the parentage of Mark Whitaker and determining if he was born in the colonies or in the British Isles or during transport. Any help or suggestions for further search will be greatly appreciated.
