Hopefully there is someone out there who can help me? I have been searching for the family of Ann Carson for a number of years. Most of what I know about her is from the Maryland Historical Society which says that she was born in 1770 and died in 1847. My family information claimed that she was married 21 August 1790 in "St. George's, New Castle, DE" to Elias Glenn. Elias was the son of Samuel and Jane (Barnaby) Glen of Kent County and later Cecil County, Maryland. I know a little about her life with Elias as some of her diary has survived. >From the diary I know that as a girl she was sent to a boarding school in Philadelphia. She and Elias had these children: Elizabeth Renshaw Glenn; John Glenn; Mary Glenn; Elias Barnaby Glenn; William Carson Glenn; Jefferson Glenn; Jane Glenn; and Ann Glenn. The children were named for either family members or friends (obviously Jefferson). The children married as follows: John to Henrietta B. Wilkins; Mary to David Maulden Perrine; Elizabeth Renshaw to Robert Armstrong; & William Carson to Martha Elizabeth Sewall (dau of Gen James Sewall of Holly Hall, Cecil County, MD). Someone once suggested that though Ann Carson and Elias Glenn were married in Delaware, they may actually have been from Maryland. Please could someone help me? If I can share any information which I have on the Glenn's or Sewall's please contact me. Thank you for your attention and hopefully your help. NT [email protected]
