    3. While I am not familiar with the general area in which you are asking of, I do have a Mary Roselin Boddy who was "adopted" by Eli Sinex & wife Mary Mahaffy and from census records this Mary Boddy was born circa 1838 and census records show here state of birth as Delaware. I have nothing further on her - just thought I'd send your way in case there may be a tie-in to your family. 3. Thanks for sending those comments from someone in N. Ireland as I would imagine there are many of us who have concluded that Scotland records are indeed hard to come by, and I'm sure that person in Ireland would be in better position than many of us in making that comment. You've been very helpful to many of us on this List, Gordon, with the info you have so kindly and generously shared, and I would like to thank you again and wish you all the best in the New Year. This is part of his answer: "About the only folk that I know of who have successfully traced their roots back to Scotland and Ireland are the "great and the good" of here. I mean those who held more than a tenant farmers plot of land, they would have left wills and records of land deals, They also would have fine grave monuments of basalt or granite as opposed to sandstone which weathers within 50 years. Most of those of the sub-tenant farmer class would have had no grave headstones. In addition to which almost all townland and parish records from 1400-1700 do not exist." So unlike here in the USA wills and such were not generally written. This friend has been able to trace about 50% of his early ancestors in Ireland and have been totally unable to trace them back to Scotland. Hubly sheweth that the said Manor was first settled under a grant made by the Proprietor to George TALBOT about the year 1680 who parcelled it out on easy terms to the first settlers; they and their posterity remained thereon peaceably and quietly until about the year 1744 when the same was claimed by the Proprietor who obtaining verdicts in ejectments against several of the inhabitants they were obliged to take leases from him on such terms as was prescribed them; that the said Manor has been cleared by the labour and industry of the said inhabitants and their ancestors who have expended large sums of money in making valuable improvements on the same. 3. I have a Susannah ELIASON here, a granddaughter of Cornelius ELIASON (1679-1754). In his will, written Aug. 1752, proved Feb. 1754) he calls her "Susannah ARMSTRONG." Susannah ELIASON must have married ____ ARMSTRONG. I am looking for a marriage date and place, as well as for the name and family of her husband ____ ARMSTRONG. Cornelis ELIASON was married in St Stephen's parish, in 1703, therefore Susannah was born after that date. Probably born sometime between 1704 and 1720. Does anyone have a male ARMSTRONG in or near Cecil County, whose wife was Susannah ___?? Or perhaps a wife Anna?? A marriage which probably took place sometime between about 1725 and 1752?? Note: records of this family also appear as ELISON. But the surname is ELIASON, not Ellison. Thanks very much, Liz J
