I bought the book through www.abebooks.com I believe, and it was being sold by the Maryland Historical Society. I would imagine they would still have a copy, I can't imagine them getting rid of a book they didn't have two of. Possibly you could try Amazon. There are four John's listed and eleven Thomas's. Hi Sue, Would you be so kind as to check your book to see if there is any Foster's in it. Thank you, Sandy
Sue: I have a book called "The complete Book of Emigrants, 1751-1776". I know this isn't exactly what you asked for, but maybe it will help. On page 181, there is a John Bradford of London listed, aged 18, occupation, laborer. This particular John Bradford came aboard the Jenny & Polly, as an indentured servant to Maryland (length of time not listed). It is listed as being January 24-30, 1774. Additionally, in the same book, on page 254 there is another John Bradford listed, also of London, age 30, occupation, weaver. He arrived as an indentured servant, bound for four years, on the Baltimore Packet. Date is listed as February 13-20, 1775. I hope this helps. Alan: Thanks sooo much for taking the time to scan these old books. Looking forward to others in the future. I know it takes time and patience, and really enjoy them. I'm looking for "RODGERS/ROGERS, DODD(S), FERGUSON, and possibly WALLACE for a friend. I already know that Rowland ROGERS and his widow, Rachel both died in Cecil Co. MD and left wills. Not sure IF they will show up in that book or not, but I know there were many wills that were perhaps not included. Have a blessed week and thanks again, Ronna Eagle, Newark, Licking County,Ohio P.S. My husband and I were in the Cecil Co.Historical Society briefly a few years back and their collection is fantastic. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mdcecil-request@rootsweb.com> To: <mdcecil@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 05, 2007 1:00 AM Subject: MDCECIL Digest, Vol 2, Issue 25 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. To All: I am "desperately" searching for information on the family of John Harrell, Herrell, Harreld etc. who served in the Rev. War from Maryland. He applied for a pension after 1800 in Fairfax or Fauquier co., Va.. I have the names of his wife and children but desperately need the names of his parents.. Thanks for any Clues, Information or Discussion on this person. I also need to contact a proven descendent of John Harreld, Herrell etc. (father to son) for a DNA test for comparison to my results.. Thanks, G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.
WONDERFUL news! God bless that anonymous donor!!! This is especially exciting for me as I have a Francis[2] SMITH who d: 1719/1720. His original will dtd: 18th Aug 1714 leaving 200 acres of his land, Knowlewood, Locust and Horn Points, were left to a nephew, Robert[2] EYRE, and the remaining 1000 acres of Knowlewood left to his sister, Sarah nee Smith PEIRCE. Sarah's husband was to be the Adminstrator. The Rev Richard SEWELL of St Stephen's parish contested the will, stating Francis[2] SMITH ordered a new will written just prior to his death leaving 1000 acres to St Stephen's for a school for the parish children. Evidently the estate was not settled until somewhere around 1729-1730. The matter was sent to the MD Prerogatory Court and settlement of the estate was referred to the MD General Assembly. Most, or at least a good share, of the paperwork regarding this estate have been lost (hopefully only until now w/the discovery of these new documents!).
