Good evening, In the MD Cecil County of 1850 there was a district 1 known as Warwick, MD. Can anyone tell me where Warwick is located. Frank PS is there any place on the web that gives the districts for the census.
Frank I have sent you another separate email titled "1895 U.S Atlas". On the Maryland, Cecil Co map you will find Warwick near the eastern border of the state. Hope this helps. Hi Everyone, I've never done anything with military records and don't really know how to go about it. An ancestor fought in the War of 1812. I've seen mention of his wife applying for something (military pension?) after his death in the book MD Militia, War of 1812, Volume 3, Cecil and Harford Counties by F. Edward Wright. Where can I write to get info. about his service? Would there be an actual copy of the wife's application that I could get a photocopy of? What else would there be to request? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Melissa Cecil County, Maryland
Melissa I have sent you, in a separate email, the NARA web site where you can order or download the forms you need. I have found that pension requests usually contain more information than service records. There are copies of the pension request and usually letters from other people justifying her request. >From The Heritage Newsletter, 1 Apr 2003 [email protected] >From "The Capital," the Annapolis, Maryland, newspaper of 17 March 2003, we learn that the State of Maryland is start- ing a new program whereby librarians will be available to chat with residents with questions, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week! The librarians staffing the system will come from 20 public library systems and 5 academic libraries, including the Maryland Law Library in Annapolis. To access the system Maryland residents need to log onto the website of their local library, or at www.askusnow.info. Delays are said to be small, and the librarian and patron are able to view documents simultaneously. The article reports that a similar system has been in oper- ation in New Jersey for over a year with good results. ****************** Charles County Public Library, Prince George's Memorial Library, and Cecil County Public Library are on the list of participating libraries. With other states cutting appropriations to libraries, MD is increasing services. The state of GA has increased monies to Libraries and Archives! Please support your local library. Caroline, I have a book, 1782 thru 1800, which pre-dates the CD I have of Old St. Peters, which begins in 1803 (sparsely!) up through the 70's. The book has Baptisms 1782 - 1800; Marriages 1783 - 1800, and burials from 1783 through 1800. If by chance you want someyhing looked up, I could probably arrange to do that for you. All you need to do is ask, and give the pertinent info. for me to check. Mr. Taylor, I recently discovered a Luke Taylor in the 1800 and 1810 census records for Cecil Co. He fits right in with my Luke who later moved to Lancaster Co. This is certainly a long shot since there are so many Taylor families, but thought I would ask.
