Can someone do look-ups for the following graves: Benjamin McVey, died May 20, 1814. Mary Bing, died May 17, 1814. John Byng, died Jan. 1815. Mary McVey Byng, died Feb 27, 1849 Many, many thanks, Caroline Byng Whidbey Island, WA
Mary, The easiest thing to do is "list" your look-ups names & possible dates, and maybe what area they were, and I bet you would get some quick answers for your query. I myself have a Tombstone Inscription book on cemeteries in Cecil County. Hi all! Does anyone know about a Bryson family reunion to be held in June? It's usually held June 21/22 in the Elkton area. I would like particulars because my mother is a Bryson and she would really like to reconnect with "cousins". Beth Beth Johnson, Information Specialist A. T. I've learned that about 1750 there was an Old Nottingham Presbyterian Church of Lancaster Co., PA, but after a boundary change of 1767, the state line was moved to include this church and the area of Rising Sun into the county of Cecil Co., Maryland. Is anyone familiar with this church, can tell me where to search for records, or can assist with a look-up of early records, marriages, etc? I'm seeking marriages for MAJOR or MAJORS, given names Thomas and/or Robert. Also PAISLEY or PEASLEY marriages. These families left the area with a group from the Old Nottingham Presbyterian Church and traveled to what was then Anson Co., NC, later to become Rowan Co., and still late to be in Guilford Co., NC, in today's area of Greensboro, NC. Wish to find records of these early church members or the above surnames. In exchange, I'm happy to do free look-ups in: 1. Genealogical Register of the First Settlers of New England 2. History of Montgomery County, Maryland (Please note that I cannot copy entire pages due to copyright restrictions.) Mona Sarratt Knight

Cathi, From a Google.com search, I found that OUAM was the Order of United American Mechanics, founded in 1844 to subvert the hiring of cheap foreign labor. It was essentially anti-immigrant and anti-Catholic. There is a good description of a Junior OUAM history at http://www.phoenixmasonry.org/masonicmuseum/fraternalism/jr_aoum.htm John ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2003 7:04 PM Subject: [MDCECIL] What is O.U.A.M? > In an obituary from 1932, it says that a relative was a member of Venus > Council No. 44, Sr. O. In an obituary from 1932, it says that a relative was a member of Venus Council No. 44, Sr. O. U. A. M. Can anyone tell me what "Sr. O. U. A. M." means? Thank you! Cathi
Regarding: > From: [email protected] > . . looking for the father of Morton Harley Andrews . . . Here's the information you are looking for: In Upper Falls, Harford county, in the 1870 census were listed the family of Wm Andrews. They were: . Andrews, William 42 carpenter . Andrews, Sarah 38 . Andrews, Samuel C 15 . Andrews, Martin H 13 . Andrews, Wm F 11 . Andrews, George ? 9 . Andrews, Mary Jane 6 . Andrews, Harriet 4 . Andrews, Hannah 1 All were listed being born in Maryland. Hopes this helps. Clay
Hello, I am looking for the father of Morton Harley Andrews. In the 1880 census he is listed with his widowed mother, Sarah A. Andrews (born about 1836 NY), and his siblings: Samuel, William Finney, George, Harriet and Hannah. Since Hannah, the youngest, was born in 1869, there is a good chance his father was living when the 1870 census was taken. I would really like to know his father's name. Would someone with access to the 1870 census look for them for me? They should be in Cecil or Harford County, MD. (If in Harford County, possibly in Churchville) Thank you so much! Cathi D.
Cathy, sorry that in my haste I did not include a date.... and I know better. My Thomas b. ca 1712 (I think)... don't have the papers in front of me. His father born sometime around 1670s. That gives a somewhat better perspective. Ron Cathy Berger wrote: > Ron, this is one family I did not write down every reference I found, since > I already knew the name of the emigrant. Ron, this is one family I did not write down every reference I found, since I already knew the name of the emigrant. But I'm wondering if a Baltimore connection might lead you to the Whitakers of Harford Co. I feel sure that I read of a book being published on that family. You might ask at the Historical Society in Baltimore to see if they have it. Again I don't know their email address, but they must have a webpage. You do not have a date, but here's an interesting possibility. Marcilian W Whitaker was administrator for James L Whitaker 6 May 1889, see Harford Co Estate Docket. Do you have any early Manerys? also spelled Manry...Mannery and Manary. Thanks Sandy Wainwright
John Byng was born in Old Chester on 10 May 1773. He married Marey McVey about 1797, possibly in Chester or Cecil Co. MD. Marey McVey supposedly had family in Cecil Co., but I have not found anyone who will claim her. John Byng supposedly had cousins in Cecil Co. in the late 1700's but I have not found anyone who will claim him, either. If anyone has a shelf full of PA or MD records, or CD's, please take a look for me. Thank you, Caroline Byng -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, June 02, 2003 3:52 PM Subject: Re: [MDCECIL] marriage license research >I was wondering if anyone has marriage material for time period about 1745-50 >for Cecil Co.? I have Whitakers in Cecil County, arriving from Chester Co and Berks Co. They all descend from Joseph Musgrave Whitaker who deserted from the British Army during their march from the Elk River landing toward Elkton. There were Quaker Whitakers in Chester Co very early in 18th century. And there were early Whitakers in Harford County. Donna: Thank you so much for the work you are doing in sharing with us. A couple of the names seem to fit my family line, but the majority as grouped do not. Think they must be from a different line. Again, thank you so much. Ron Donna Hutchings wrote: > There are a lot of Whitaker's. I will list the index of the 1750-1760 book > and then type out pg. 355 where most are found.
