NICHOLAS GORSUCH son of Elias and Ann Read his wife was born April 18 1830.......>>> I am interested in NICHOLAS GORSUCH. As I try to unravel the CRISWELL, LANE, DAVIS mystery, another NICHOLAS GORSUCH/GOSSAGE pops up in the area of Carroll county, MD that was once part of Baltimore county, MD. data #1: Nicholas GORSUCH married Susanna DAVIS 21 Sept 1803 Baltimore county, MD (yes, a different generation, but most likely the same family) data #2: Nicholas GORSUCH/GOSSAGE followed Richard CRISWELL to Brooke county, VA before 1810. data #3: Susanna GOSSAGE/GORSUCH testified in the RW pension petition as a witness to the service of Richard CRISWELL in the RW. She stated that he was an uncle by marriage. The pension petition took place in Brooke county, VA. data #4: A Nicholas HEADINGTON, Baptist minister, also testified at the pension petition of Richard CRISWELL. Nicholas HEADINGTON said that he knew Richard from Baltimore county, MD. Nicholas HEADINGTON also moved to Brooke county, VA from the same area previously inhabited by Richard. data #5: Richard CRISWELL testified that he served a 2nd tour in the RW as a substitute for his brother, ANDREW. Andrew could be a Criswell, Davis or other surname. It seems that the term "brother" was also used for "brother-in-law" back then - or so I'm told. date #6: Richard CRISWELL had a son, also a Richard CRISWELL. This son also moved to the same area of VA. The son, Richard CRISWELL, married Elizabeth LANE on 27 Oct 1897 Baltimore county, MD. I too have posted a family bible (with 2 other ladies) that starts with this Richard Criswell, the son. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/criswellbible.htm Please contact me: tmollaun@aol.com Donna
