Bowman, 71, Hanover RD 7, died this morning at the Golden Are Nursing Home. Born in Carroll County, Md., he was a son of the late Oliver E. and Bertie Messinger Bowman. He was a member of St. Mary�s Lutheran Church, Silver Run, Md.; the Pathfinders Sunday School class; a former member of the church choir; and for many years he was a member of the Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a retired employee of the Doubleday Book Company. Surviving are: his wife, Anna C. J. Riebling Bowman; two children, Lester B. Bowman, Virginia Beach, VA; Mrs. Harlan (Gloria) Markle, Hanover RD7; one grand-daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Ruthetta) Wentz, Abbottstown; Mrs. Lloyd (Charlotte) Laughman; one brother, Malcolm O. Bowman, Westminster, Md. Funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Littles Funeral Home, Littlestown, with his pastor, the Rev. Roland A. Ries, officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening. Contributions can be made to the building fund of St. Mary�s Lutheran Church. Bowmans Honored The Evening Sun Thursday, February 21, 1980 Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bowman, Hanover RD 7, were honored recently on their 40th wedding anniversary with a celebration dinner at The Greenskeeper Restaurant. Bowman, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver e. and Birdie Bowman, and Anna C. J. Riebling Bowman, daughter of the late Fredrick and Leah Riebling were married Dec. 18, 1939 at St. Mary� Lutheran Church, Silver Run, Md. The late Rev. W. E. Saltzgiver officiated. The anniversary celebration was hosted by the couple�s children and their families, Harlan and Gloria Markle, Hanover, and Mr. and Mrs. Les Bowman and daughter Angie, Virginia Beach, Va., who were unable to attend. The couple received a silver tray commemorating the event. Both retired, Bowman was employed at Doubleday Co. and Mrs. Bowman at Hanover shoe, Inc. Paul M. Bowman (written in date 22 Jul 1978) Littlestown- Paul M. Bowman, 65, a retired Littlestown businessman, died unexpectedly this morning while taking his usual morning walk. He collapsed on West King St., Littlestown. Bowman, who resided at 57 Prince St., Littlestown, retired in May, 1974, after operating a grocery business for 36 years. He was a son of the late Milton and Carrie Dodrer Bowman and was a member of St. Paul�s Lutheran Church and Sunday school, Littlestown. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Armacost Bowman; three sons, Dr. Paul A. Bowman, York; James a. Bowman, Lancaster, and Dr. John M. Bowman, Baltimore; two grandchildren and a brother, Ralph D. Bowman, Westminster RD. He belonged to the POS of A, Alpha fire Co, Littlestown; Eagles Lodge of Littlestown and the Littlestown fish and game association.
