These are my family surnames in Carroll Co., MD until after the Rev. War: CRISWELL/CRESWELL (etc. on spelling), DAVIS, GARDINER, GORSUCH/GOSSAGE, LANE, OGG These are my family surnames in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD in the late 1700s: CRISWELL/CRESWELL (etc. on spelling), DAVIS, GARDINER, GORSUCH/GOSSAGE, LANE, OGG, WOODEN GARDINER, GOSSAGE & OGG may or may not be related by blood, but they did stick together. Some of the CRISWELLs & GOSSAGEs moved to the VA Northwest panhandle after the Revolution. They occupied the VA counties of: Brooke Co., VA (now Brooke Co., WV) Ohio Co., VA (now Ohio Co. & Marshall Co., WV). Some also drifted across from the Ohio River from those counties into Ohio: Belmont Co., OH Jefferson Co., OH A few were in bordering Washington Co. southwest PA. The Rev. War Patriot from what is now Carroll Co., OH, applied for his RW pension in Brooke Co., VA. His name was Richard CRISWELL, but that surname is spelled differently in many documents. He may have married an unknown DAVIS. His son, Richard CRISWELL, also moved to the Northwest VA pan handle. He married Elizabeth LANE. This Richard is the first name on an old bible entry. You can find this bible on the Marshall Co., WV web site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/criswellbible.htm Hope to connect with someone out there! Best Wishes, Donna Criswell Mollaun in Cincinnati where we are expecting a nasty ice storm in about four hours.
