Hello Listers, I am interested if anyone on this list may have information about the "Frederick and PA Railroad" in Taneytown during the late 1800's and early 1900's. I have a map from the 1877 Atlas that lists three businesses with rail sidings, one is a Lime Kiln owned by George A. Flickinger and the second is another Lime Kiln owned by T. H. Eckenrode and the third is a Machine Shop owned by W. T. Haugh who built and sold Thrashing machines and other types of farm equipment. The map also shows a brick yard (no name attached) on a lot next to a railroad siding. My question is since there are several Lime Kilns listed, were these used to produce lime for use in the iron and steel industry or was the lime used as field topping for the agriculture industry of this time period? Thanks Don Fair, Mechanicsburg, PA
