This Indenture made May 1 1793 between John Dowdle and Mary Barbury Dowdle of Baltimore County and State of Maryland of the one part and Peter Oats of the same place. They are selling part of Hockstadt Enlarged viz: beginning at the beginning tree of said land and running thence south 4 degrees east 82 perches to a tract of land called Winchester Lott ... 150-1/2 acres witnessed by Jere Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and John Cradock. (Jere Johnson and John Cradock were Justices of the Peace) John Dowdle signed in German, looks sort of like Johannes Dotel 2. Indenture made 13 May 1788, same piece of land, sold by Henry Oats of Baltimore County to Peter Oats of same, witnessed by Richard Richards and Richard Richards Jr. 3. Indenture made 8 October 1760, same piece of land, sold to Henry Oats by Rudolph Decker and Jacob Oats of Baltimore, farmers, witnesses John Shrimpton and Peter Oats. Rudolph and Jacob were original holders of the warrant. 4. Indenture made 8 October 1760, Rudolph Decker and Jacob Oats to Stophil Decker, another piece of this "Hockstadt Enlarged" (also called Hogstead). 5. Indenture made 16th April 1786 - Stophil Decker's piece, 136-1/2 acres, the one sold to him on 8 October 1760, is now being sold to my ancestor Conrad Hileman. I don't know how Leonard got it from Henry Oats: Indenture made the 16th April 1786 between Leonhard Foreman of Baltimore County (wife was Mary) and Conrad Hileman of the same place.
