Autoist Suffers Fracture Of Skull (written in date) 19 Jul 1940 Eugene Bachtel, Near Union Mills, Rushed To Baltimore Hospital Following Accident North of Westminster Eugene Bachtel, aged about 40 years and residing along Westminster Rural Route 2, near Union Mills, suffered a fracture of the skull and serious injury to the left hip in a traffic accident along the Westminster-Littlestown highway about five miles north of Westminster yesterday afternoon. According to Maryland sate Policeman G. E. Newcomer, Bachtel, coming from Pennington�s tavern., drove his auto out on the highway in the direction of Littlestown into the path of an oncoming truck of the Richardson Bros. feed company owned by Helen V. Richardson. The truck was operated by Ira A. Nusbaum of Westminster. The impact of the two machines threw Bachtel out to the middle of the road from the left-hand door of his car. The truck had the two front wheels smashed. Both machines were badly damaged. Dr. W. G.
