Lettie Arter Has 90th Anniversary--Miss Lettie D. Arter observed the 90th anniversary of her birth on Friday, Sept. 30, by having open house in the afternoon and evening. A dinner was served at noon to Mrs. Caddie Schill of Galion, Mrs. William Feik and Mrs. Arthur Williams, who are neighbors, Mrs. C. B. Taylor of Mansfield, Mr. and Mrs. Lester V. Arter of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Masenheimer of Hanover, Pa., Mrs. Robert Rush of Euclid, Mrs. Maud Garver of Marion, and Mrs. Margaret Dillon of Toledo. Mrs. Dillon and Miss Arter observe the anniversary of their birth the same day so it was a joint celebration. Callers in the afternoon were Mrs. Margaret Sweet, Mrs. Harry Cronenett, Mrs. Fralick, Mrs. Edna Keck and Mrs. Lester Keinath, all of Shelby, and Mrs. Lyman Mabee and Mrs. A. B. The guests were entertained by Judy, Linda and Ida Kay Arter, who play accordion and guitar. Moving pictures were shown by Norman Masenheimer of Hanover. Miss Arter received many tokens of remembrance from her friends and 115 greeting cards from distant and home friends. Ten birthday cakes were served to the guests, all being brought in by friends. Miss Arter, who is entering the "Gay Nineties," thanks all who helped to make her anniversary one to be remembered. The Daily Globe, Shelby, Ohio, Wednesday, October 3, 1951--Miss Lettie Arter Has 86th Birthday--The home of Miss Lettie Arter at Maple Front Farm was a scene of great pleasure Sunday when she observed the 86th anniversary of her birth as has been her usual custom for years in having open house and welcoming any of her friends who desire to call. The rooms were decorated with flowers from the home garden and from friends who said "Happy Birthday" with flowers. A beautiful bouquet was sent from the Methodist church in Crestline. There were some friends who said "Happy Birthday" with beautifully decorated cakes and others with greeting cards and letters of which she received 112. There were several surprises, one being when Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Dillon of Toledo arrived. Mrs. Dillon has a birthday on the same date and had many times promised to share the days pleasure with Miss Arter, thus fulfilling her promise and having a joint celebration. Pictures of the different groups were taken by Mrs. Margaret Adams of this city who helped to make the day's pleasure a success and thru her efforts many greetings were received from friends who thought that "Auld acquaintance" should not be forgotten.
