Hi Jacqui and List, Carroll County was formed on 19 Jan 1837 out of the eastern part of Frederick County and a western part of Baltimore County. So, before 1837, depending on where your ancestors were living in Carroll County, the newspapers would have been from Frederick County or Baltimore. Carroll County earliest date for an newspaper is 1842 to 1846, The Democrat andCarroll County Republican and 1855 to 1928 American Sentinel (at HSCC in orgianal, lating for a mircofilm set, newspaper to fragile to handle and these are on mircofilm at Md Archives) 1868 to 1978 Democratic Advocate (at HSCC on mircofilm and original) 1911 to 1978 The Times, later became The Carroll County Times (at HSCC microfilm or original) These newspapers were published in Westminster, the county seat. The Historical Society of Carroll County homepage for list of newspapers. http://www.carr.org/hscc/ If you are looking for anything earlier than 1837, like in Frederick County, through Willow Bend Bookstore, they have F. Edward Wright's Frederick County Newspapers abstracts starting 1768 to 1840. These are about 4 to 5 books. http://www.WillowBendBooks.com For Baltimore County, Enoch Pratt Library would have them on microfilms and Willow Bend has some newspaper abstracts books too. http://www.pratt.lib.md.us/slrc/mdxgen.html Hope this helps some in your search, Susan E.
