Please note this is a change in the regular location for all future meetings. This meeting is open to the public at no charge. Location will be in the large Multi-purpose Room. The topic of this meeting will be "Frederick County Old, Odd, and Obscure Place Names" - another key in family history research. Our speaker will be Mr. Louis O'Donoghue from Frederick. The talk will center on the county names for places and geographical features, followed by an open discussion about placenames and general genealogical questions. Mr. O'Donoghue is a long-time volunteer at the Frederick County Public Library - Maryland Room - where non-circulated local and regional reference books, maps, living history recordings, and other rare sources materials are located. Louie is also a historian for the Emmittsburg area and particularly for the county railroad companies. Homewood at Crumland Farms is located just north of Frederick off of Rt. 15, turn left at Beckley Motel on Willow Road. Use the second entrance on the left and enter by the main lobby. Parking is in the front and in the rear of the building.
