    3. To Jim Miller From Jim Snyder - re: Daniel Brown will: 1) What was the date of the will? 2) Witnesses; Matthias Snyder I believe is brother to my ggg grandfather, J. Michael (1760-1845) who purchased a part of "Brown's Vexation" just south of Silver Run. (and Koontz was the middle name of a g-uncle.) 3) My ancestors include Snyder, Myers, Stansbury, Miller, Brown, Myerly, Long,Yingling, Reese, and others in that area. I am primarily interested in Mattias Snyder - the date of the will help to zero in on his life span.. his wife and family.. where and when he disappeared.. any information or direction you can give me may help. Thanks.. The Henry O'Hara who witnessed Daniel Brown's will was an ancestor of mine. I also descend from the weakland family; Susan Weakland's brother, John, was among the people I descend from... jim miller _____________________________________________________________ Then I received the following from a descendant of the Browns who had been in the area of Pipe Creek Hundred when the O'Haras were there. "like many who have early ancestors in Cambria, my families paths cross many other early settlers including O'Hara. For what it is worth: My early Cambria ancestor was John Brown who married I) Susan Weakland and 2) Ann .... John Brown came from Frederick County, Maryland. His father was Daniel Brown who lived near Silver Run. Maryland. Daniel Brown left a will [Fred. Co. G.M. #3, p.5 12] in which Henry O'Hara was a witness. Likely, Henry O'Hara and Daniel Brown were neighbors and friends. Other witnesses were George Koontz and Matthias Snyder. Jacob Yingland was named executor. My Daniel Brown mentions only his wife Margaret, and two children in the will: daughter Margaret Topper. and son John Brown. [same person, in another letter] John Brown's move to Cambria about this time [1791] My Brown's did settle in the Munster area. letter of response to the above contains the following: I have a document, a deed in which my ancestor, Daniel O'Hara [1761-1809]. the one who settled in Cambria Co. in 1799, is back in Maryland in 1801 buying a 7 1/4 acre plot from Stephen Winchester, once a part of 'Browns Neglect'. In 1802 he is back in Maryland again selling half of this small parcel to Daniel Brown. Also of note, Henry O'Hara Jr., b.1767, married a Margaret Brown. This Margaret was the daughter of Henry Brown, born circa 1740. Henry's sister was Rachel Brown, b.l742, who married Capt. Michael McGuire. The father of both Henry and Rachel was a George Brown, for whom I have no dates. And when they get to Cambria, still connections between the Browns and O'Haras show up. In the land transactions for the homestead around Munster and in the Valley Enclave, Browns had been previous owners of property purchased by O'Haras. They did not get these plots directly from the Browns; they were intermediaries. In the 2nd half of the 1800's a P.F. Brown married a Charlotte O'Hara; they both grew up in Cambria Co. They ran the Central Hotel in Ebensburg. yet another descendant of the Browns was heard from. His email contained the following, "My ancestors (George Brown and Mary Stevenson) lived in the Pipe Creek Area around the 1700's. need info on their children, their parents, and their siblings. Can you help?" I could only tell him I had mentioned above about a George Brown. As yet we are not certain that they are the same person. ********************** jim miller/621 grove st ********************** greensburg pa 15601 >From: poorepe@netzero.net >Reply-To: mdcarrol@rootsweb.com >To: MDCARROL-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MDCARROL] Brown's Neglect/Bell's Choice - Daniel BROWN heirs >Date: 13 Oct 2006 21:35:48 -0600 > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CFB.2ACI/629 > >Message Board Post: > >Frederick Co.
