I hope someone can help me on my Smith ancestor. Sydney Smith was born 1812 England. (All Montgomery Co., Ohio records has England.) died 26, September 1852 Montgomery Co., Ohio. married Frederick Co., Maryland 4, February 1832. (now Carroll Co.) David Dickensheets son of Frederick and Nancy ( ? ) Dickensheets. Lived in the area of Silver Run. In 1860 two of her children were living in the home of John Smith and his wife Hannable in Montgomery Co., Ohio. Might this John Smith be a relative of Sydney? Perhaps a brother ????? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Carleene Roe

My main research surnames are Hare(all spellings), Ebbert, Eberg, Eburg, and Zinkel(spellings). My GreatGrandfather was John Hare, decended from Phillip Heir and Anamarie. Johns parents were Jacob and Elizabeth Feathers. John mar. Barbara(Barbary) Ebbert in Maryland and migrated to Illinois. Barbara Ebbert was born in Germany and came to the US in abt. 1834. Her mother was Margaret who mar George Zinkel abt 1840 Maryland. Their dau. Margaret(Maggie, Mary) mar. Henry Eburg(Eberg) Carroll Co, Md. I am especially looking for info on the Ebberts. The mother, Margaret seemed to change her given name from csnsus to census. She ended up in 1870 census in Ill. living with her son John. There was another son George. George was b. 1822 Germany, John was born 1830 Germany. It seems like there might be more children between George and John but we haven't found any proof of other children. And we have not found any information on coming to the US other that the date. Barb Smith

I am interested in the Dodson Family that lived in Frederick Co. Md. before 1792. The Dodson family I am connected with left Maryland about 1792 and moved to Bedford Co. Pa. In Dec. 1775 there is a John Dodson listed as a Associator in Frederick Co. Md. In 1778 there is a John Dodson listed in Frederick Co. as a Juror to the oath of allegeance. John Dodson was listed in the 1800 census of Bedford Co. Pa. as over 45 years old. In 1814 tax list John was listed as 57 years old. If the age in the tax list is accurate he must have been at least 59 when he died. John Dodson died in Bedford Co. in 1816. Some have tried to connect this family with Charles Dodson in Maryland but I do not believe there is enough proof to make that a fact. John's brothers were Thomas born in about 1741, Michael born about 1751, Joseph about 1766. I am looking for new clues to trace this family better in Maryland. Muriel

GREETINGS, ALL My immigrant Folkerth ancestor was Christopher Folkerth, who landed in Phildelphia in 1754 and then migrated to Maryland in about 1790, dying in Maryland in 1816. Christopher had a son, Henry, ( probably actually named Heironymus ) who was born prob in Pennsylvania but later lived and died in Maryland. Little is known of Henry; not even sure if he had children. Both father and son had wives named Margaret. I hate it when this happens ... I believe these folks lived in Frederick County, but my geography for that time is a bit fuzzy and it may have been Carroll ... so I'll take the chance and post here. The name was subject to creative spelling variations; it is sometimes seen as either Fulkerth or Fulker. I cheerfully accept any such variation as a 'possible'. Ol' Christopher also had four other sons who all settled in the Miami Valley of Ohio in the early 1800s and whose families are more well known by various researchers today. I'm interested in anything about Christopher and would like to learn about his son Henry, as well. DICK FOLKERTH Dallas, Texas

Contact the Genealogy society in Westminster, They may have a lot of information. Also there was an online paper in Frederick Maryland that covered alot of Carroll County information. In Christ we love, Sheri
Where is the best place to find obituaries for Carroll County for the early 1900s? Unfortunately, the Carroll County papers do not seem to be in the on-line databases. Vanessa

I have an Emily Jane Stultz who was born January 9, 1826 or 1829 and was from Carroll County - since Carroll County was not established till 1837 - can someone advise me as to where I might write to reseach documentation of her birth and therefore documentation of her parents? Supposedly, her mother was a Crabbe. I do know that she married a Solomon Fox (no date for the marriage) but have extensive information on their children -- this family moved to Ohio. There is a Stultz family in the 1850 Census with an Emily J. listed at age 21 - under William and Lydia Stultz. Thanks for any advise - it's greatly appreciated. Martha Combs Thevenin
