    3. Below is a news article about moving gravesites at the old Zion Lutheran Church in York, Pennsylvania. The agencies involved would like to contact descendents of those buried there. I contacted Kim Hogeman, point of contact for the search and she sent me the names and links for photos of each grave stone. What she sent me was an attachment PDF, which I copied and inserted below. I don't have any connections to those buried in the sites to be moved, but some of you who subscribed to these lists may have a connection. S. PORTER, Ludwig WAMPLER & Others vs Samuel MOALE of Baltimore city. - Undivided 1/2 of "Deer Park", "Resurvey on Mount Pleasant" and "Bedford", 134 acres; now in Carroll County; to Jonathan PLAINE and William CRUMBECKER from William HUFFMAN & w/ Elizabeth in 1834. Adjoined land of John ENGLE. Widow inherited husband's estate until her death, then to Martin DIEHL, Jacob SAYLOR Sr., Thomas OGLE and Abraham WOLFE of Martin, in trust (they all died before the widow Lydia). They were to divide the assets as follows: - 1/4 to children of Jonathan's brothers and sisters - 1/4 to children of Lydia's brothers and sisters - Remaining half for use of the poor In 1835, David, Samuel, William, Daniel PLAINE, Sarah & Jacob STEM and Nancy CRUMBACKER conveyed their shares to Joseph ENGLAR. Jacob SAYLOR, then the only survivor of the trust, died within the previous year, leaving his eldest son (and first of nine children), Reuben SAYLOR to settle his estate. Reuben then applied and became administrator for Jonathan PLAINE's estate; but has refused to distribute the estate, claiminig no knowledge of the trust and believes the "use of the poor" is not specific. William CRUMBACKER of Carroll County testified to the date of death of the decedant and confirmed his signature. Joseph ENGLAR, exec/of Lydia PLAINE testified he found the Will of Jonathan PLAINE after the widow's death on 3 Oct 1866, in a drawer and on the back was written that the paper was to be kept at home. Trustee for sale was Reuben SAYLOR; however, he appealed the decision that the trustees had no interest in said proprty. Court of Appeals decree on 25 Aug 1869 - property to be sold and distributed among the heirs of Jonathan PLAINE, Reuben SAYLOR to be trustee. Sale was held on 4 Oct 1869 to: - Francis J. CRAWFORD for 80 acres (77 1/2 acres) at $22/acre (first two tracts mentioned above were combined). Situated on Sams Creek in Carroll County, adjoining the lands of Dr. F. CRAWFORD, William YOHN and J. S. COVER and has a house and dairy, supplied by spring of excellent water.. No sufficient bid received for Crumpacker Farm, 130 acres (undivided interest). Situated near Union Bridge, Carroll County, adjoining lands of Archibald GRAHAM, Solomon SHEPARD and Joseph HOOP/ROOP. It had a large stone house, a large brick barn and fruit orchards. Distribution was not listed. Closed 4 Dec 1869. -- ================== www.MidMdRoots.com ==================

    1. [MDCARROL] Fwd: [OT] New German portal ARCHION publicly starts on March, 20 2015--Lutheran churches only
    2. Blah BlahBlah via
    3. Thought this would be of interest to those with German Lutheran ancestry. It was set up in 2013 by the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland and eleven state-wide Lutheran bodies (Landeskirchen): Anhalt, Baden, Bayern, Berlin-Brandenburg-Schlesische Oberlausitz, Hannover, Hessen und Nassau, Kurhessen-Waldeck, Nordkirche, Pfalz, Westfalen and Württemberg. Sam ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Vera Nagel via Hello All, Since I don't know whether you're already aware of the new German church book portal, ARCHION, which will publicly start on March, 20 2015 I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it to your attention. [I am not affiliated with Archion in any way. So please take it as pure -hopefully helpful- information regarding family research in Germany.] Website is: https://www.archion.de/ Via this portal Lutheran (!) digitized church book records only (!) -more or less from all over Germany- will become available to registered users of Archion. They charge for their services, so usage of Archion is not for free! Which digitized church books are available is and will be visible to everybody (whether being registered or not) for free. This functionality already works now. Available digitized church book records are indicated by script/text/description on GREEN background. The availability of Lutheran church book records via Archion is work in progress. So if you don't already find what you're looking for, re-check at any time later. In case you're i.e. looking for church books in the German states Thuringia, Saxony or Saxony-Anhalt the Archion portal will not be of help at all since these churches don't participate (as of yet) in this project. Please also note that nobody at Archion will help with transcriptions and translations of any available German church book records!! In example: -go to the website above -click on "Browse" -select "Landeskirchliches Archiv Hannover" [church archive Hannover] -select "Kirchenkreis Neustadt" [church district Neustadt] -select "Mandesloh" And in the next window on the right you see the list of available church books / church book records. In this specific case all of them appear on "green background" - say: all of them are online available. Regards, Vera Nagel, Germany [vpanews(at)t-online.de]

That's Harvey and his brother living with their grandparents in 1860. I did see the baby James in the cemetery records. They may have very well been twins. I tried attaching David's will here, but got an error. Email me at vrstern@earthlink.net and I will send it to you. I don't have the originals for the 1880 or 1910 as I don't have ancestry. On the 1900, it says Harvey's parents are born Maryland. I found his grave last night on findagrave. It makes sense if he is the son of William John Biggs/Beggs and Lucy Riegel that his father born Ireland and mother born Maryland. The 1900 census was misleading me. I have William's dob as Aug 1, 1824 from Ireland. Born Drummadarra, Ballyeaston, Co. Antrim. I haven't had time yet to look for an obituary for Harvey. That would give siblings I would hope. On the 1900 census, Harvey's dob is given as may 1857 and an online tree has May 1, 1857. I have a son James born Mar 1, 1857 to William and Lucy. I wonder if they could have been twins. James died in 1858. I think we may talked before about Sarah Bixler. From somewhere, I had a Harvey Riegel born abt 1857 to David and Sarah. I bet that is our Harvey Biggs, raised by his grandparents. Also a John W. Riegel. Aha, both are are actually Biggs. Harvey is with David and Sarah in 1860 as is John W. In 1870, John is still with them. Not sure where Harvey is. I have some info on the Riegel and Bixler families, probably not as much as you do. Would you be willing to share David Riegel's will? Does he specify that Harvey is his grandson? You are a lifesaver. Thanks again for all your help. Peggy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: v_stern Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.carroll/1602.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Per the 1880 and 1910 census, Harvey's father was born in Ireland and his mother in Maryland. He and his family lived in Myers District in 1880 and in Manchester in 1900, but appear to have moved to Harrisburg by 1910. Harvey died in 1919 and is buried in Shoops Cemetery in Harrisburg per Find a Grave. Have you looked for an obituary? I have a Harvey R. Biggs in my database, no birth info, as the son of William J. Biggs and Lucy Ann Riegel. His name, his father's name and his brother Wesley's name came from the will of Lucy's father, David, who died in Carroll County in 1877. William and Lucy obtained a marriage license in Carroll County on 30 August 1850. They had a bunch of kids. J. Wesley appears to have been born in 1851 and died 1927. He is buried with the name Biggs in Krider's Cemetery. Unfortunately, the on-line copy of his obituary is of such poor quality it can't be read. It was in the Times on 9 September 1927. According to Carroll County Cemeteries, William was born ca 12 August 1824 in Belfast, Ireland and died 20 March 1907. Lucy was born in 1830 and died in 1880. They are buried with the named spelled Beggs in the Biggs/Beggs Family Cemetery. William and his family lived in Westminster, Carroll County per the 1860-1880 census. Harvey is not listed with them. Since they had so many kids, maybe he and his brother went to live with other family. David Riegel was married to Sarah "Sallie" Bixler. I have more info going back on both sides for them.
