Hello to All, I though I would share some great sites that is located on ROOTSWEB home page. http://www.rootsweb.com Some of the resources to help you is the Research Templates and one of the sites to help you find the COUNTY for a U.S. Town or City. As you are researching and you come across the name of the town, village or city and the state but no mention of the County and this information can be from newspaper clippings and articles, obituaries, bible records. This will come up with all the States that has the name of the Town, Village or City in question and the Counties in those States. http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/ Search Engines and Databases Social Security Death Index that is updated within two months of death and there is a link to print out a Form SS-5 Letter to request a copy of the deceased Social Security Card Application. There is a charge by Social Security for a copy of the application. http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi Hosted Volunteer Genealogy Projects Cyndi's List has over 87,600 links at this date, from subjects A to Z This site needs to be bookmark and go back every other month or so to check up on new links. http://www.cyndislist.com/ Transcribers Immigrant Ships Guild This is another site that must be bookmark and go back every other month for the new Ship lists. http://istg.rootsweb.com These are a few of my favorite Rootsweb sites and there are many more on the Home Page that might be of some help to you in your research.
